System, I honestly think it might be fairly substantial, to the tune of £1m - £2m each year. Just depends on how many early assays GDR have in the pipeline that match that list. There is an obvious overlap in certain areas but the important thing for me is that the basic platform being used for AIHL and Stroke marker tests is exactly what GDR are trying to expand on and use for other assays, so basically they're already ahead of the game to some extent and to me at least it makes no sense to partner with a new company who hasn't even developed a reliable and proven platform from which to base these various genomic tests. It just has to be GDR that are involved and I'm quietly (nervously) confident that GDR with the progress it's already made with AIHL and stroke marker tests and those potential market figures they've published recently will be of particular interest to the UK govt in terms of what future revenue these tests can bring into the UK economy. Of course if a big pharma comes along and offers a large dollop of cash then share holders will have a choice to make, but a nice one for a change.
With regard to the GM and 2nd tranche of RF funding, Budd and Gilham are going to have to make rather more of a compelling case (well, any case in fact as they've said pretty much nothing thus far on it) to persuade me as a lth with a substantial holding here to approve it. There is absolutely no point in getting further into the mire with RF if there's no realistic prospect of the company turning a corner in the next 6 months with some decent revenue coming from the UK, Europe, RoW and perhaps even the US. If it's going to take another 4 years as Starres suggests the company will simply go under or be bought out for peanuts, possibly by RF themselves and then sold on further down the line as a private entity and one that has made all the progress we are hoping for right now.
At the back of my mind is Gilham's track record of selling companies but in Budd he has a CEO who has badly let him and the company down in failing to commercialise a single GDR product to date. Just because Gilham has had previous successes does not guarantee the same outcome will occur here.
