sidi, cheer up buddy, you seem a bit down in the dumps, off to Gibraltar tomorrow , may not be able to afford a holiday next year when I retire, as my pension pot is dwindling away lol, your definitely a professional compared to me, I should have taken my wife's advice and bought premium bonds, will have a peak at the shares in the morning, then try not to look for a week, I'm sure things will get better, just don't ask me when lol

A good start , but i think it will take a lot more than that to get confidence back this year, remember the cases are still rising, and a lot of uncertainty over the coming months, just my opinion

That's a good example of where we are right now I think, I'm sure sidi is right about me picking a few wrong ones though, but most of my holdings were doing ok before including Vodafone, and think there's potential there for most of them to recover eventually, my Lloyds shares for instance were making good gains up until may, when they reached 50p with, expectations of 70 before the end of the year, they have now dropped back to 42p, I guess there's just too much uncertainty at the moment with Brexit and Covid still looming over us, so I expect we will just have to ride the waves for a while, and hope for a good recovery next year

Batfasted, I think it would have to be a very good report to make any significant difference, the way things are at the moment, but would be quite happy to be proven wrong mate, think we need to get them ships fully operational, and see some improvement in the economy, I'm thinking some time next year

mole good evening mate, you know I do agree with you on a lot of things, but selling at a loss, a big problem with that, is can you be sure where you reinvest, is going to make up the difference, very unlikely i think

Hi Sidi mate, well I can't argue with that, all very true, but picking those winners is a little more difficult, unless your really good at this or really lucky, things were starting to pick up quite good a few months back, but all seem to be slipping backwards with me, plan for me is to sell off those shares which have been long time in the red, and then put my portfolio, back from 50% to 80%, leaving the majority to the experts to manage, the likes of smt who concentrate on growth are doing well, worth the small management fees I think, but it may take some time to get back to that stage, as I need the shares to get back into profit first, but hey, looking on the bright side, things can move very quickly, maybe 6 or 12 months time things maybe looking a lot better, lets hope so, as for Vodafone, I expect it will take a good financial report to see any meaningful improvement here, will that happen who knows, anyway away on holiday next week, hopefully a lot of sunshine and sangria, maybe the vod will be on 130 when I return ??, have a nice weekend and good luck everyone

Good evening sidi Re, you wish you sold at near 250, I wish I never got into this one at all, saying that though, most of my shares are doing badly at the moment, a good time for buying if you got the spare cash, but a bad time I think for me being fully invested, but that's the risks we have to accept I suppose, just hope we don't have to wait too long too see some sort of recovery, best of luck, and hopefully a better day tomorrow

I wouldn't be to hard on voafone, don't know about the rest of you, but i don't have any shares that are doing well at the moment, let's hope they all turn direction soon

Narcus, I was just making a jokey comment about the current situation with Vodafone and other shares , I'm not sure what your problem is ?, you seem very selective who who make your funny comments too for some reason, I have money invested here in both my sip and isa accounts , I also topped up recently at 118, so if I didn't think there was any hope of future improvement with Vodafone, I wouldn't have done so, just feel it's going to take something like a good financial report to get this one moving , but will be very pleased if I'm wrong and this starts moving very quickly some time soon

Mikey, fair play, you have tried very hard over the last few weeks, but it seems nothing can shift this share very far, I blame Dan for being over bullish ( only joking Dan ), to be fair none of my other shares have made any progress either, I expect things will turn around at some time, just hope we don't have to wait too long

Was hoping to sell up here for 248 before ex div, but the price was dropping instead of rising, so gone for the alternative, and topped up today at 207, hope the price stops dropping here now, time will tell if it was the right decision or not

Thank you guys for your replies, I do get what your saying, you bought at a lower price and sold for higher, or you heavily topped up to average down, of course I have also done that myself elsewhere, with shares I believe in, but you also know you are trying to mask your initial investment loss in a way, I used my spare cash to invest in the likes of aviva/lgen/lloyds/smt etc. taking advantage of the discount prices this pandemic has created, I lost confidence in Saga, which just seemed to get from bad to worse, I have one other share I wish I never got involved with, which is Vodafone, but at least with that one it has continued to pay a good dividend, thankfully the majority of my portfolio is in funds and investment trusts, and to be truthful they have been doing better than individual shares over the last year, as I said I have lost hope of recovering my 70% loss with saga, but will be a pleasant surprise If I do recover some of my losses, this is only 5% of my portfolio, so not too bad, just like any other share buying low and selling high, is what we all aim for, so good luck to you guys who are making profit from this now, and should it keep rising , will also be a benefit to myself

lucky for you, that your in a good position to sell this crap share, I have been invested here for several years, this is without any doubt the worst share of my portfolio, currently 60% in loss, I really don't see much hope for this company, think the saga product is finished for, people shop around for best prices these days, sorry for being so negative guys, but I have all but written this one off, and try and put it down to experience, not even worth selling what's left of it, so will just have to to hang in here with the hope I may recover some of my losses in the next year or so.

Bananaman, yes this is definitely a very wonky unpredictable market at the moment, you can forget about historic charts, we have since had brexit and a pandemic thrown into the mix, my lloyds shares were starting to make good gains going up to 50, then along came the inflation worries, now they are back to 43, mng is a very difficult one to predict for me, dividends are very good, but not so great when the share price is dropping, let's hope we can at least start to get upto the 250 mark again
