RE: Good sp to buy?22 Jul 2021 20:32
lordloadsoflolly, Thanks for your views, funds and investment trusts can be a lot safer option ,and less volatile than individual shares, for instance 2 of my shares are still down vodafone and saga, and can take maybe a cpl of years to fully recover, had I left that money in funds, over say the last 18 months, they have mostly either just held their value or made steady gains, but as I said I still have 8 funds and this investment trust and intend to increase my holding in smt, don't fully agree with you though, sometimes things happen, such as this pandemic, and you can pick up some shares at a bargain price, and make some good rewards when they regain their value, also some dividend stocks such as lgen for instance, can be very good for income without touching capital, and lgen has a very good track record for increasing its dividends year on year, and buying in on dips can also increase growth
always best I think not to put too many eggs in one basket, but do agree its much safer to have the largest percentage in funds and investment trusts, but we all have different strategy's
best of luck to you all, and was another good day today for smt
