Hi Dan, yes it was a bit of a big drop today, but if I got upset every time the share prices dropped, I would probably be crying most days, you have to accept it as a snakes and ladders game, but smart investors are probably making good money from the ups and downs, sadly I'm not one of them:-( but I can't complain things are doing ok
I find it quite amusing when we get a variety of comments, the way I see this one is it's working within a range and we haven't seen any growth here in the past few years, what will happen in the next few years I have no idea, will leave that one for the experts to decide, for those who have bought in here for around 110 they are getting around 7% yield and happy with their investment here, but for others like myself who bought in closer to the 200 are getting a poor yield , at some point I will have to make a decision, if it goes above 140 should I sell or if it drops back to say 110 should I top up and get a better yield, or should we change tactics maybe like topping up here at it's lowest price and trying to sell maybe before exdiv, so my question is who is making good money here and how are you doing it ?

Well definitely a snakes day today, let's hope we get some big ladders tomorrow, good to have a variety of posts here again, we all want it to go up of course, but a few 99 jokes won't do any harm ? good to see Mikey back to wind Dan up, makes him work a bit harder with his jokes and sarcasm, you do know your feeding Porsche ? he's loving the attention

Piggy/Robina/Thronegames/TDinvester and anyone else, Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that, but more importantly your personal experiences of which methods have made the most money for you, now come on lgen let's see £300 plus it's been a bit slow this year ;-)

Can I ask you guys which method you find has the best success rate, not just with lgen but with all dividend shares
1/ dividend capture, buy before exdiv then sell as soon as the sp rises back up to your purchase price
2/ buy on the lows and sell high before exdiv
3/ buy and hold medium to long term and keep reinvesting the dividends
I don't mean a one off success story where you managed to buy a share at the bottom price and sell at the top, we all know how difficult that is, how many times have we bought a new share only to find it drop the next day or sold too early and watched it continue to rise, but in general which of these strategies have been making you the most money

Well sp is up today with ceasefire talks going on, so i guess that's why the sp has been staying down, directline has al also been down, let's hope we get a good result for all the reasons

Hi Dan, welcome back, hope you had a good holiday mate ? sorry about the sp drop, tried my best to hold it up, it's been so quiet on here last week I gave up on it, apart from old porshy boy he's been using very bad language because Mikey and a few others have been rattling his cage, don't think he has any friends and he plays with his little winky when he gets a reply, very sad really, fingers crossed for a good up week

Thanks Gary, I bought in here recently at 389.19, I agree the sp does seem a bit high at the moment for adding more, so will wait and see if it drops further after exdiv , usually see a drop of more than the dividend but not always, retirement coming up very shortly, so have been reducing some of my funds and increasing dividend stocks, which will hopefully top up my state pension without touching the capital, currently with aviv, mng,lgen, dlg, vod and lloyds, I'm thinking some dodgy times ahead with inflation and interest rises, and if the share prices drop once again , will be good to see regular flow of dividends coming in, well that's my way of thinking anyway I'm definitely no expert and have made plenty of mistakes so always good to get other opinions

I made my first instalment here a few weeks ago so will get a bit of dividend capture from that, and intend buying another 2 batches, was thinking of making the next one some time after exdiv depending on how much the sp drops and one more at a later time, hoping to get as low an average as possible, as I intend to hold this long time for dividends, or do you think I should wait until after the consolidation before adding more ?, would welcome your opinions cheers

Quite happy to hold along with other high div shares in these rocky times and reinvest dividends

Hope so morbox, that was one of my first investments back in 2016 and turned out to be a car crash, maybe a good lesson for me perhaps, but an expensive one lol

Just bought in here at 272.20, it may drop now knowing my track record, but hope not, good dividend coming up

Think your probably right about sticking with the dividend stocks though, at least you still have income from them if the share pricedrops, seems a safer option
