@ dogger, I think your right the drops haven't finished yet, I must admit I'm guilty of making a few top ups too early, so holding back for a while now
I'm a bit heavy in insurance/financials and banks, and most of my shares have dropped into the red now, thank goodness for the dividends
maybe the rest of you have shares that are performing a lot better than mine, so if i can ask you all a second question, which shares are performing well and making good gains right now guys ?

Holding back some cash for topping up, the big question is when will the share prices reach the bottom and enter a Bull market, hold back too long and could lose out, but maybe too early yet, answers on a postcard please lol

This usually works around the same range as lgen, but seems to be doing a lot better lately

csdi, I do hope you realise your not alone, most of my shares have been dropping in value lately, and Vodafone has been holding up better than most, and i expect it's the same for most of us, unless they have picked something spectacular, all we can do is try and turn a bad situation to our advantage by adding more shares at a lower price and collect the dividends, which ones will turn out to be the biggest winners or losers we don't know, we just hope the ones we have picked will bring us the best rewards, hope that Bull market is not too far away, I've been waiting patiently here lol

Hi Gary, well you already have most of the same shares as myself, I know I'm a bit heavy in insurance and financials, but they do pay good dividends and you get to know the ranges they work in, mng and dlg are another two favourites of mine also hold phnx which I'm not so keen on and will be selling when the price is right, both mng and dlg are at a good buying price at the moment, but of course could go lower just as any other shares at the moment, hoping to add to vod at some time, but the sp is too high at the moment, i would never wish a share price down, would always prefer them to rise but if it happens then will try and take advantage of it

Good Morning all, just got back from sunny Tenerife, been trying to stay away from the depressing stock market whilst on holiday, i noticed not much has happened to the Vodafone sp while I've been away, but at least it hasn't dropped much unlike a lot of my other shares, i did make one exception and logged into Persimmon, and sold them off the day before exdiv, as i think the rising interest rates and inflation and reduce numbers of mortgage applications would not be good for the housing market, and we could see house prices going into reverse, I could be wrong about that of course, which would mean my good friend csdi would benefit and i would be pleased about that, and also i could use the money from that sale for topping up a cple of my other shares, I think Gary is right in saying there will be a lot of turmoil with the stock market for a while, but for how long for nobody knows but they say a Bear market is always followed by a Bull market, so will need to take advantage of those wild swings and try and average down when those opportunities arise, I see Dan has been doing a great job with the guessing the sp game and also bagged himself a win well done you, nice to see the vod sp has held up fairly well in these challenging times, and hopefully it will make it's way back up again soon

Well it might move upwards steve, but it also it may go down, if we new those answers for sure, we all could be millionaires ?
No one knows what's round the corner right now, that's the uncertain times we are living in, also card can go down ? It's all a gamble we all know that, but we have to make our own decisions, and be carefull not to be influenced by other posters on these boards including me
But i wish you all good luck, whatever you decide, we all need a bit of that

Hi csdi, thanks mate, this will probably rise now I've sold up, i just think the housing market is in for a tough time and possible house prices will fall, but that's only my opinion and i may well be wrong about that, may buy back in here at a later time, but hope all goes well for you and other holders

We we can only hope newsid, it does seem to resisting the drop at the moment, under difficult circumstances

Agree telecom's are the future, the question is how long will we have to wait for it to get £2 plus again, could be the same in another 5 years time

A bit disappointing in my opinion, was hoping this would have made some gains now with exdiv coming up, the div is not much good if your going to lose more on the capital, have a feeling this will drop a lot more than the div, and maybe not a good year for psn, just my opinion of course

Hi Compound, obviously the first part of that was a dig at Dan, we all fall out here sometimes, I don't agree with everything Dan says neither does he agree with everything i say, but you have to agree to disagree sometimes, as i said to Mikey life is to short to hold grudges all the time, none of us have to agree with each other and everyone's entitled to their views and opinions here, but would be a much better place i think if we could all try to get on and share opinions and investing tips, a bit of banter is ok, but some will take offence sometimes
and thanks for the general investing advice always appreciated by myself

So much going on Dan, with this war and cost of living going through the roof, i think this will be another year of just collecting dividends and waiting for things to improve, but you never know, there maybe some nice suprises around the corner, apologies for any grammar or spelling mistakes :-)

Hi soton, that sounds like a good strategy, just what Hargreaves would advise, keep calm and carry on, i do have a few shares i want to keep, mng,dlg in particular, but i would like to average down on them, should that opurtunity come up, as it would help to turn a bad situation to my advantage, and possibly vod as well, but your probably right as you can't predict what will happen in the future, and you can end up losing out instead
