Where are the great leaders.7 Dec 2018 09:41
I don't think I've ever seen a time in British politics where we have four such unmemorable, ineffective and self serving leaders as inhabit office at this moment in time.
Listening to the Commons debate yesterday made me wonder how anyone believes the politicians listen to the voters at all. Each party is following it's own course and further subdividing it's own definition of Brexit numerous ways. Some politicians believe a cross party approach to settling Brexit should have been put in place from the beginning, but having twelve or more different opinions would have been pointless and fruitless.
At the end of the day the majority of MPs are continuing to play games with their eyes on the prize of power and using every means possible to force a GE or second referendum. Even though 64% of parliamentary constituencies supported Brexit, a majority of MPs are still trying to find the means to escape from it.
But be warned of the danger lurking in the wings. The anti capitalist, anti US and pro Russian Corbyn who can't find it in himself to condemn Russia for the chemical attack on Salisbury, could still yet get his grubby Marxist fingers on the ultimate prize. How many people know his chief adviser is a Stalinist.
The Tory in fighting is taking the possible outcome of a Cornyn administration further in the realms of possibility every day. They have one element of the withdrawal proposal to get right but they prefer to squabble like dogs and further erode the remaining respect that the public have for them. Oh, to have a leader that would smash their heads together.
Barnier and Juncker must laugh over their subsidised breakfast every morning.
