Out of interest, does anyone have a figure for the number of shares in existence in 2010. Just curious how the figure has grown in the last ten years.

Shhh ! Don't mention their names. They might hear and return to haunt. Their Visas had probably expired.

I remember all the confident postings going back over 8 years estimating when Lloyds would reach £1.00 and more. Three and a half years ago it did touch 91p and wouldn't we grab that with both hands now.
I won't even bother making an estimate as Lloyds just confounds all the time. Suffice to say they must be an appealing takeover prospect with their market valuation and estimated profits. Conversely, it would be nice to hear Lloyds making an acquisition and broadening their base.

That's revealing. It shows how much the price has been diluted - pretty much the same rate as the buyback. The Board effectively have a printing machine in their office all to themselves. High time the smaller shareholders got together and put a stop to this self reward culture.

You completely miss the point SUFCESSEX. The market knows PPI is coming to an end unlike some years ago when provisions and the price were considerably higher and there wasn't an end date in sight. Now there's a year to run and "only" another £1 Billion to put aside and still the market doesn't rate the share. Can you follow that or does it need another explanation. By the way, rudeness is usually a sign of ignorance and you've highlighted yours extremely well.

Why should the end of PPI make any difference. I'm sure everyone expects another £1 Billion over the next 12 months and then that's more or less it. Since that's expected and the end date is known why should 12 months from now have any additional impact.

Nit picking I would say. AHO's salary is very well known.
If you care to look around bank shares (plural) are all pretty well in the dog house. RBS 24p. I don't really recognise the 10 to 1 since it was intended to confer respectability.

A steadily, albeit slowly rising interest rate and end to PPI, albeit another £1 Billion to be set aside, should have a beneficial impact on the share price, but seemingly doesn't.
The one thing Lloyds is, is a very attractive takeover proposition.

If the end of PPI will herald an improvement in the share price, why was Lloyds at 91p some years ago when no end to ppi was in sight and total compensation payments were extremely high.

It's always interesting looking at the share of the other banks.

I suppose there must have been a lot of PPI policies sold that were for a term of less than 10 years. This being the case Lloyds won't have held records on these for quite some years and in all likelihood nor will many of the policyholders. So proof of PPI would be very difficult now.
I seem to recall at the AGM three years ago lloyds said 40% of all policies sold had been compensated. Their latest statement doesn't quite fit in with this earlier statement.

It isn't just the bods who presided over the PPI fiasco. It's the surviving bods who orchestrated and implemented it in the beginning. It didn't happen on such a scale by chance. Boards throughout the industry gave the green light to the whole scandal and rewarded themselves accordingly. Sod the little shareholders, often pensioners, that really felt the pain. Given the ineptitude of the management to even begin to assess the scale of this scandal, they are the ones that should be losing or having to forego their share awards. They basically continue to reward themselves before, during and after this scandal. Jobs for the boys?

It always seems a non event when Lloyds publish their results. Never much reaction from the market and usually any small increase in the share price has gone by day's end.
PPI again gets the headlines. I notice some call the claims companies' vultures in this on going saga. To my mind the only vultures are the banks. They orchestrated this miss selling on a nationwide scale and pocketed the proceeds for years. Initiated and approved by the Boards of Directors.
Lloyds say they have funds set aside for 13,000 claims a week. The latest claims figures reveal that the current level must be running at around 19,000 per week. So far this year an additional £1.15 Billion set aside. Plenty more will be needed. Now probably the 8th additional amount set aside since Lloyds Board said definitely no more.!!! Who do you believe. The posters who said 9 months ago that no more would need to be set aside must be feeling quite sick. If just half of the amount set aside this year was paid as a dividend it would yield 0.8p per share. That would have been nice.

The PPI compensation payments will continue well beyond August 2019, bearing in mind the processing time and all those referred to the Ombudsman.

Nice return, Freya. Best one I ever had was Pace Micro some years ago. Lovely to treat yourself to a newer car - did so myself 3 years ago and still get a lot of pleasure getting in to it and having a drive in the country.

Freya, do you remember back in February you were hoping for 74p and it only touched 72p. Seems a long way off now.

Sufcessex, you're the same time period for Lloyds share holding as I am. But I believe they totally underestimated the size of PPI provision needed and they've been very reluctant to provide all the facts over the last seven and a half years. The compensation payments will run into 2020 if you take into account the backlog of claims and Ombudsman cases.

Sufcessex, just because something happens virtually every quarter doesn't mean it becomes less shocking. Lloyds BOD have singularly failed to estimate the on going cost of PPI and so far the provision to date approximates to around 26p per share. I would have been very content with half or two thirds of that so to say it's a shocking amount is pretty accurate.
