Buying shares is just another form of gambling with your money. In five years, who knows what the price will be. If we did, we wouldn't be on here. Eight years ago the price was 10% higher.

Jayfax, you find it very difficult to control yourself. You really are like the little boy who stamps his feet and shakes his fists. It's your view or none at all. Get a grip of your emotions. When you make the comment about competent professionals representing the EU you really do make me laugh. Your support of the EU is laudable but their fiscal and political union ambitions are the elements driving the union apart. They don't recognise their own failings or why so many opinions are against them and their ambitions.

Jayfax, you show your true colours when you refer to "little Liam Fox bleating at America". It shouldn't be forgotten that Trump is temporary and friendships are developed over generations. Like or loathe the man, Trump has blown a fierce wind through the political elite and done things he promised, unlike the majority of politicians who just seek to cling to power. He'll stand or fall by his decisions.

But a lot of trees that are used for wood pellets are hardwood and these will take up to 100 years to replace.

Interesting to look at Drax which uses wood pellets from North America. Because It's a renewable energy, It's co2 emissions are not measured. When an independent study compared coal burning to wood burning relative to the energy produced, coal buring created less co2. Drax receives subsidies for burning this renewable product. Strange world we live in.

SUFCESSEX, it is a guess at the end of the day, although I found the extra �90 million provision a little ominous. Also, since the end of PPI is only 18 months away, the markets don't seem to be reacting to that fact.

I can't say I agree with that sentiment regarding the level of PPI. It will fall, but January's figure was 75% higher than the previous January so It's not unexpected to see It falling from this much higher level. Bear in mind also that January has 10% more working days. The anomaly in all of this was the extra �90 million provision that Lloyds made in April. Why wasn't this hoovered up within the provisions already made. I think this is all about the Plevin ruling. Needing to write to all policyholders that hadn't received compensation so far. This little extra could yield �500 to every policyholder that has had a previous claim turned down or not even bothered to claim so far. The uncertainty is the number involved and how far back policyholders have kept records. I said 9 months ago Lloyds would have to set aside a further �1 to �1.5 Billion. I now think it will be up to �2 Billion. So far they've set aside �690 Million.

The youngest of the four daughters can still remember serving in the Observer Corps during the later stages of the last war. She was under age but lied about it. She can still recognise most of the aircraft and explain the differences between a Lancaster and Stirling, or a Ju 88 and He 111. Her location was one mile from the farm and the site still survives today. She had to phone through to Grassington all the details of overflying aircraft and of course most were at night. When we were young we would go to the farm regularly and loved haytime. They still made haystacks in those days and we'd have picnics at lunchtime in the shade that they provided. Just as a matter of interest, if you hold your shares within Hargreaves Lansdown with a dividend reinvested agreement, the divi payments are not reinvested immediately. I believe the payments received will be reinvested on set dates later in the month or indeed, the following month. It could be anything up to two weeks later.

Therein lies your problem Jayfax. Your unswerving belief that you are correct and the majority are wrong. This is not the site for Brexit dialogue but you don't care. It gives you a tool that you think you can use to satisfy your ego, and It's certainly a sizeable ego.

Forever amusing reading Jayfax stamping his feet like a little boy who hasn't got his own way and pronouncing you are filtered. Most sane and balanced people just want Brexit completed. The votes were cast under great threats from project fear and the result astounded the political hierarchy. Life will go on after Brexit and to continue to spout on this site does a disservice to the vast majority of shareholders and readers. If you are dissatisfied with the referendum result, write to your MP, your MEP, the newspapers, the Prime Minister, the president of the EU. Don't assume It's right to continue to pollute this site with your unchanging rhetoric.

I agree dcb. The EU negotiators are making a complete horlicks of the process. They come across as purely interested in preserving their own single minded agenda - money - and pay no attention to the trade agenda which determines whether economies sink or swim. Unelected eurocrats through and through.

For me it was self determination and the right to control who came into our country. I regularly looked at the projections for the UK population up to 2040 or 2050 and began to wonder if anyone cared about the prospect of 80 million people living here. We have a duty to take care of this planet and all forms of life but we don't apply it to ourselves. Nor does the EU show any form of recognition of population density and public services stretched to breaking point. Lloyds has tanked since the referendum but I would vote the same way again.
