I think there's still a lot to play out for 2021 in F1. Wolf doesn't get on with one or two of the main Mercedes Board and they are looking to make some significant savings over the next year or two. Being an engine supplier only would have it's appeal for Mercedes and save a lot of money.

I was watching a utube last night of the Bristol AM showroom with a sales exec talking about all the cars they currently have. Surprising how many were sold and awaiting collection and also how extensive the AM range has been over the last few years, taking into account all the specials and various Zagatos. You initially imagine it's just Vantage, DB11 and DBS, but it's a whole lot more. They had a pair of GT8s, one already sold, an early DB7 Zagato and 3 current Zagatos, plus all variations of the current range. My favourite which wasn't there- a 007 DBS coupe.
On the subject of the DBX, people who buy these already have top end GTs and supercars. It's why the market is so lucrative and also why Ferrari will enter the market but haven't done so yet. People who are buying at the top end are real car enthusiasts, petrol heads many of them. They are attracted to V8s, V10s and V12s, knowing full well that time is against these masterpieces. Much as I admire electric technology, they just don't have any emotional appeal compared to a multi cylinder that appeals to the senses. Driving one of these and aware of it's torque and power bands and aural sensations is where a lot of the appeal lies.

Guys, be objective if someone posts a counter view to your own beliefs. I live in the Lakes and I haven't taken my car into a city centre for a few years. I have no intention of having my doors and mirrors damaged by inconsiderate drivers who choose not to park carefully. Irrespective of whether I owned a top of the range SUV or GT car, a city centre in this country is the last place I would be driving it.

Most of the markets are down around 3% so everything is tanking at the moment. You just have to ride with the swell sometimes.

The FTSE is quite a small market relative to the DOW and always reacts to what is said and what happens over the pond. It sadly never leads.
AML being taken over by Mercedes would be a good fit as their models do not conflict or really compete with their current range. AML would be a step above and hence open a door to some higher net worth clients. I suspect their interest will increase next year once the new CEO has found his feet. He'll be more than happy that AML are still pursuing multi cylinder engines.

That's my part of the world. Had a lovely walk last Friday along the river from Grassington to Hebden and then up onto the moors to the old mine workings and then back to Grassington. You could buy hot butties and coffee in a couple of shops and still maintain distancing. Perfect.

Don't forget virtual Le Mans this weekend with "works" 3 car Vantage team. They currently lead the actual GT world championship, both for makes and drivers. The real Le Mans has been postponed to September but this may he viewed as serious fun.

That's more like it, although the new Volante nose is also a big improvement. People expect AML to make beautiful cars and the new Ferrari Roma mimics the DB10, but in a much prettier body. Andy Palmer said Aston sell dreams, whereas a comment in the AGM prospectus said Aston are not car stylists but design engineers. I think they need to be both because emotions play a big part in attracting buyers at the top end.

Yes 3300, I do love endurance racing with all the strategy, tyre choices and changing weather. The incar TV these days is fabulous.

Don't know how many are interested in the DBR9 sports racer from the mid 2000s. You'll find plentyof utube showing these wonderful cars and the many wins they got around the world. You'll also find much more recent video of the Vantage GT3 that AML regularly run at the Nurburgring 24 hours. Plenty of incar with Nicki Thiim and you can't tear yourself away at the closeness of the racing at 180mph.

There is the virtual 24hrs Le Mans this weekend. AML are running 3 Vantage GTEs, one being driven by Nicki Thiim who is one of the very best sim drivers out there.

Interview in Autocar that AML feel they are on track for 5000 unit sales per annum for the DBX. With a few options per model that would yield approximately £1 Billion turnover per year. Even cutting production of the Vantage, plus DBS and DB11, there's another £1 Billion there as well. Valkyrie and 007 DB5 and speedster add about another £400 million, then there are the Vanquish and Valhallahs and derivatives of the DBX. Just hope they keep the sports car racing team as this Is their real DNA.

Considering markets are down, I'm more than happy to see some consolidation.

In terms of their history, AML is remembered for their sports car racing. They have a very good lead in the GTE world championship, both with driver and team. I've been to see them a number of times and the closeness of racing is wonderful. F1 is barely part of their history, but it gets the TV coverage. There is uncertainty over the works Mercedes team and whether Stroll and Wolf will control it. If they did then there is a question about Racing Point. The dream of seeing the Valkyrie race may remain a dream unfortunately. Can't see an F1 team and a sports car team.

DBX orders are 2,000 plus, but have nothing more accurate than that. The Valkyries and 007 DB5s are also being made for delivery later this year and into next. These 3 models alone should represent about £750 million. Your guess what the DBS, DB11 and Vantage figures will be.

The appointment of the new CEO is the real game changer. Andy Palmer refreshed the AML range completely but I still have an issue with the styling of the cars, although the DBX is the most gorgeous SUV on the market at the top end. The Cullinan and Bentayga are downright awful and look how they sell. The new CEO has a great track record with AMG and the economies of providing engines, infotainment and technology to AML are very attractive. Taking over AML would fit well with Mercedes as the Astons are in a higher price category to anything they currently produce. They would be openning doors to higher net worth clients. Using the underpinnings of an S class could, in the long term, conceivably offer a way back for the Lagonda into the marketplace, but I think that would be years down the line.
I'm a little luke warm on the F1 project as Lamborghini's unsuccessful foray did them no harm at all, but then it didn't give them benefits. There's a chance that Stroll might buy out the Mercedes team along with Wolf and so the Racing Point/AML F1 team might be sold on. I always associate AML with sports car racing as that is where their history is.

Less of your whinging, Seismic. The referendum was four years ago and it really is time to move on. Write to the papers if you want to air your views.

There are a lot of people that can remember hundreds of posters on here over the years that have talked about Lloyds being cheap and what the future holds. Ten years ago Lloyds was 70p and people were forecasting £1.00p by year end. Well, it's never happened and yet there are still people who believe Lloyds will deliver. Being nonchalant and forgetting about the dividend is like throwing money down the drain. It's letting the Board continue to treat shareholders like dirt. The £600 million that belongs to us and yet is iñ Lloyds coffers goes back to the 2018 financial year which ended 18 months ago. It was from a suspended share buyback which is not required as the remaining PPI provision is more than adequate. The Bank have no justifiable reason to withhold it and there are a few million elderly pensioners that could benefit from having it in their Bank accounts to spend in the wider economy.

Oxo, I think it's just a very thick and solid stone wall we're banging our heads against. The one thing I would find helpful is the suspended buyback from the 2018 financial year. Neither Sam Wood or anyone else other than the shareholders have a call on this and it's worth about 0.9p per share. The buy back was suspended because of the rise in PPI claims, but according to their own statement at the AGM they have more than enough set aside for this. So it's time the lazy Board recognised the shareholders and made this payment from the money set aside 18 months ago. Sam Wood can go and walk a plank on this issue. He has no remit to contest it.
