Abingdon owns the IP to the AbC19 test. They're hardly likely to hand that over to a potential competitor (which is what ODX would be in the RTC is dissolved) are they? And ODX aren't going to develop their own test (they already have the Visitect Triple Antibody test anyway).

Excalibur Healthcare have confirmed they were not aware of the claims being made by Vastum and are investigating the suggestion that they're being sold in small numbers to individuals. Excalibur are very concerned about the impact on their reputation of potentially inappropriate sales of their tests.

If you now look at the Vastum web-site, the test is now listed as 'Out of Stock' and this line has suddenly appeared: "Vastum Group Ltd/Excalibur test kits are for professional and business use only and should be administered by a trained professional in accordance with the product Instructions." This was different to the site earlier today, when the only disclaimer was around disposal of clinical waste.

Unfortunately not, as it doesn't address the requirements of the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 and the the Health Protection (Notification) Regulations 2010. Some would argue that the Coronavirus Act 202 was little more than a jurisdiction grab by central government... I don't necessarily ascribe to that view but it wasn't particularly well drafted or comprehensive.

They could amend the 2010 Regulations via further regulations - but they would need to also suspend the 1984 Act or amend it via primary legislation. There's been nothing tabled to date that suggests that they're going to do so.

Whilst that my be the case with antibody tests I don't believe it is the case with antigen testing. The government will want, as far as possible, to keep control and professional oversight of antigen testing. This is because we're talking about a notifiable infectious disease - and, frankly and unfortunately, we can't trust every member of the public to act responsibly.

I can see antibody LFTs being rolled out for home use but not antigen LFTs - not in the short to medium term (I understand it would require a legislative change).

What we do know is that the GAD tests are intended for professional/near patient use. They are not intended for home use.

Actually, they don't know about biocompatibility - which is why the test is required. Wearing masks for long periods of time can cause all sorts of issues, as those clinicians (including my other half*) and support staff, know all to well.

*He failed his mask fit and is hood trained instead.
