The focus is on forward facing and although it does state driver monitoring this is a potential application ie not the primary focus. Also, due to safety requirements, it's a non-starter until it can improve its ASIL rating

1. Ambarella's chip is for forward facing.
2. No mention of DMS and timescales initially point to China.

Maybe there will be an upgrade, maybe there won't but the fact remains SEE has put in a Guardian volume order for, in old money, a$40 million which at A$1,000 per unit (so we're told) equates to an additional 40,000 units if all installed, or 60,000 all installed by 2020 calendar year end. And, obviously, you don't want dead money sat in a store room if you can help it!

Either 27,000 is nailed on (which would still end up with more revenue than Cenkos has posited) or the following half will see almost as many units installed on a monthly basis in order to get anywhere near emptying the storeroom.

Visteon is in with Sensetime (Chinese) in a big way. Not SEEs tech.

I agree, at present it's hard to discern much PR coming from ours and it's about time they did something and with maybe the correct PR the placement could have been better handled.

However, all the PR in the world can't change the fact that SEYE has come up with a damp squib and the market will take back what it gave. It's remarkable PR /PS that SEYE was around 90k, let alone 20k higher following delay after delay.

Fair point about SEEs PR, it's about time they earned their keep.

However, I'm not sure you could call what SEYE PR do as that but rather PS, or rather plate spinning. All the flim flam put out about fantastic new tech and what do they show? A dressed up in cabin (infotainment supporting?) up grade that has very little to do with what we would perceive as DMS.

PR, or rather PS, has taken the SP around all time highs on the expectation of something more. But, it looks like the market doesn't like what's been offered. SEYE is 4% down at the moment.

Also SEYE has paid for its own booth so you would expect some pre show PR whereas SEE has not and is we believe being showcased in a number of vehicles free of charge, the best PR but not one SEE can take the lead on!

This is at best good PR for SEYE but only if it's trying to appeal to OEM's as a provider of in cabin occupant monitoring for the purpose of infotainment purposes.

However, if you're Volvo for example, this is great news for SEE as it confirms that SEYE has not progressed to any great extent, certainly not as far as intoxication is concerned. I suspect that would have been made clear if SEYE had managed that feat.

So either Volvo wakes up or it's Vision 2030+......
