Yes, I know what you mean AB. I too am glad that Burble has decided to post frequently.
But looking back there have always been arguments on this board and I suspect there always will be.
Over time you develop the ability to filter out the rubbish and research the good stuff.
I also find the arguments quite amusing at times.

Tell me Burble, in your discussions with colleagues does the name Lindy Durrant feature frequently?
It's nice to get an idea of how she is viewed by scientists you mix with.

It is obvious that you and Lindy are made of the same stuff.

This is what we are all hoping for.
We know that 1 deal is at an advance stage of negotiation and we know it is Glycan mabs/Avidimab.
We know that there are currently 2 other pharmas also looking at the same platform so there is a possibility of 2 more deals there.
We also know that Avidimab can be applied to any mab so there is a possibility of more collaborations leading to deals.
Then we have our long running collaboration with Biontech. No telling the exact status of this collaboration but hopefully nearing the point where Biontech want to start negotiations or not as the case may be.

And also within this period we are overlapping with a period of data starting with (if all goes to plan) Covidity mouse data followed by phase 1 data and then onwards if it proves safe. This we hope will be followed up with SCIB1 combo data and eventually the one everyone is waiting for (at least me :-)) modi1 data.

It's an exciting period, isn't it?

It's nice to see the correct procedures are being followed.
I really hope politics does not interfere with the established procedures especially with the US election looming.

Yes that helps.
But maybe they started with a superior approach anyway. A lot of the research appearing after the Scancell project started is validating the approach retrospectively.

Yes, the other 2 approaches I mentioned are very costly and time consuming.
It's nice that a professional such as yourself is so enthusiastic about Lindy's science.
I was just musing whether any of the Scancell research could be transferable to infectious diseases in general (I guess Avidimab and Immunobody have the most chance to do this).
It seems Lindy was initially reluctant to develop a Covid19 vaccine but she was persuaded to have a go by her virology colleagues. Perhaps these same colleagues see a possibly much wider application for Immunobody beyond coronaviruses.
Time will tell.

It seems that a great deal of research has been done in the role of T Cells in controlling cancer. Whether it is Lindy's approach or TCR or CAR-T.
Could there be a great deal of catching up to do on how T Cells could possibly be used to control infectious diseases?
It makes sense to me that if T Cells play such a central role in cancer destruction, they also could possibly do the same elsewhere. We only have 1 immune system however complex it may be.

Yes Inan, It could be that the delivery method they are working on will turn out to be one of the most important aspects of the Covidity project.
I wonder if that may be the reason why the SCIB2 project is apparently stalled. Lindy thinks they can improve on the previously chosen nano delivery.

I knew that Lindy had decided to replace the human string of sausages with the mouse one. This restored the killing capacity of the mab.
I also know she intended by find which specific parts of the sausage string was instrumental in restoring the killing. From what you say, she has actually carried out this potentially laborious study or rather members of her team have.
Are you also saying that these specific partsof the sausage string are responsible for the mutual attraction between adjacent mabs? In effect the mouse mab already had Avidimab.

I learnt most about the science from Inan, crumbs, bermuda and wild.
Then it was a case of reading and trying to understand the links they posted. I was hampered by terminology I didn't understand. But I am really glad I perservered.
I will never be an expert but I enjoy reading the articles posted. Now I add Burble to that list and perhaps he/she is the most significant of all.

I have a background in Physics and also have a fair understanding of Chemistry. That knowledge aids in my understanding. So, for instance citrullination and homocitrullination, I can understand from a chemistry point of view.
Another example is Avidimab that is purely a physical attraction between a negatively charged area of the Fc region and a positively charged area. This I understand from a Physics point of view. What intrigues me about this attraction is how Lindy managed to position these 2 areas so that individual mabs joined up in a line which I assume they do. Perhaps we have to await Lindy's memoirs to answer that one.

I think it was Wild that pointed out that Lindy spent years targeting whole proteins before deciding to switch her focus to protein epitopes.
