But Scancell are not a big pharma.
Firstly, the rate of progress is limited by the sizes of the research and development teams.
Secondly, Scancell having a trial failure would set them back years, so Lindy makes sure that each trial has the best possible chance of succeeding.
The likes of BionTech can have a failure (e.g. the recent personalised MNRA trial) and the PR machine kicks in to limit the damage, the message becomes "Progress has been made"
So, they throw huge amounts of money at research and development since the stakes are so very high.
