RE: Shelf life19 Nov 2020 09:11
When Scancell announced that they were developing a Covid19 vaccine based on Immunobody, I did a search for any research about using activated TCells to fight viruses. I didn't find much and what existed seemed to be largely early stage and speculative.
Of course, a lot more research is now happening in this area as the importance of memory TCells in long term immunity becomes clearer. Cancer related research is invading virus related research IMO.
So just to summarise, Lindy has
a) invented a platform for activating TCells
b) given it flexibility to target multiple epitopes (SCIB2 has 16 targets)
c) further strengthened it with Avidimab
d) Is seeking a peptide delivery method - this is going nicely according to the AGM presentation
e) targets epitopes of the N protein that she believes is constant over different coronaviruses
f) also targets the S protein - as I understand it using both TCells and also neutralising antibodies
g) Is easy and cheap to manufacture
h) has a long self life
Of course, we have to wait to see how effective it is, but it shows a bit of promise :-)
If it is successful, it also highlights the usefulness of the Avidimab platform, so a possible double whammy.
