RE: SCLP...how valuable!3 Nov 2020 18:57
Evening hasiba
Potentially SCLP is hugely valuable. It has 3 platforms, each of which could be a game changer.
It has been held back in the past due to big pharma's attitude towards cancer vaccines. That is why the SCIB1 trial, although it produced great results on resected patients, did not attract a deal.
So SCLP are having to do it the hard way by providing more trial data.
So Immunobody remains their lead platform at present since it is the only platform with clinical data. The SCIB1/Keytruda trial could change big pharma's perception of cancer vaccines but we have waited for years to get this trial started. Hopefully this will get restarted before the end of the year.
Of course, Covidity is also based on Immunobody and this is IMO awaiting the development of the delivery method.
This, in contrast, should have no hangups from big pharma if it achieves the data it promises to.
But IMO the modi1 trial could be the trial of the century if it lives up to its promise. A big "if" but the concept of moditope has attracted a big scientific following.
On top of that we have modi2 and it looks like this is now pre-clinical.
Each of these 2 vaccines target a set of epitopes that are widely expressed in a lot of different cancers and SCLP have the patent on these targets for cancer treatment.
But it's not just the fact that the targets are ubiquitous, it's the fact that Lindy discovered that moditope activates a type of TCell that she calls "amazing". This is the cytotoxic CD4+ TCell.
Then, if that is not enough, Lindy seems really keen to add value to the 3rd platform. This is Avidimab in conjunction with 5 Mabs that all show great promise. It will be interesting to hear about Lindy's plans for this platform.
So an awful lot of quality research but very little in the way of clinical data. Let's hope that changes next year.
