There is a case to argue for a sort of win/win - If the Covid vaccine from Pfizer is adopted and rolled out then cancer trials get back into gear with an added urgency, and if the Pfizer vaccine has problems (medically or logistically) then the pressure for Covidity to be rolled out faster increases. Strange times, but not all doom and gloom in a scientific way at least.

I think you said 120 million actually! Trouble is the doomies have a habit of pouring scorn on everything other than predictions of imminent disaster and then on any rise start saying they've been actually quite bullish. They thrive on uncertainty and volatility, not facts. Nice to see a bit of an absence of them for now.

Depending what's being negotiated there is also the possibility of directors being genuinely not allowed to buy - for the very reason of the impending vote if nothing else.

I'm pleased and intrigued after all these years to have two significant investors apparently fighting over who can have the most influential share of the company. Everything seems to have taken a big step up in the excitement stakes.

Very true GF, and remember the many who called for the company to raise as much as possible to get the various platforms moving apace. Well, even if there is nothing lurking left field by way of more significant interest, Redmile produce more and bigger cash than ever before, and that meets with the approval of LD. No brainer for that and a number of other reasons imo.

There are lots of questions which we would all like answers to, but if there is a dissenter on the board I presume a unified agreed statement would be a compromise or more likely impossible. This leads to wider issues for the future regarding the compatibility of Martin Diggle with the company if Redmile are approved (assuming he is the dissenters of course) but whatever the answer to the questions, the basic fact (for me) is if LD wants something then she should be given the support to achieve it.

In all the arguments over the years here about board, finance, trials, delays, results, investors or whatever, the one thing there has been consistent agreement on has been the pivotal and dedicated role of Lindy Durrant. Regardless of any other consideration my bottom line view of this vote is that if LD considers it best to vote for the resolutions, then that's the way to go. After all, she is the science and if she thinks the Redmile route is the preferred option then that wraps it up imo. Whether you believe the email attributed to her was true (I do) or not, the rns reads to me that it is Vulpes who object, which by logical process then means that LD along with the remainder of the board all favour the Redmile option as well. I voted for.

Unless the deal is conditional on Scancell having the Redmile funding in place and maybe come about as a consequence of Redmile's associates in the pharma industry? Redmile have far more and bigger associations in the field than Vulpes do.

It isn't as easy as 'Redmile could takeover the company if it wanted to' - true that if they exceed 30 percent they have to make an offer and it has to be no lower than (in sclp's case) 13p, but I think in that event we'd see a massive vote against it, and the percentage needed for a takeover is a lot more than 30 percent. So the '30 percent takeover offer' is a potential technical event but imo can be safely ignored for the foreseeable as it is no threat worthy of consideration unless things were to change fundamentally.

I think you are correct about the cross purposes - I stand corrected, so happy to move back to perhaps more relevant debate. And I have a feeling it was 2 million that vulpes dumped - a small fraction of their holding, but in the light of recent revelations one could see an argument for an ulterior motive in that sale.
