To be fair it was only 5 week or so ago that we had the RNS about electing the candidate, butbrheboresure is in to move thes things along reasonably quickly. In that RNS I do like the line 'the SN14 vaccine has the potential to be effective against any variant or new strain of coronavirus in addition to the current COVID-19 strain.'

Not a twitterati poster myself, but just watching the number of followers of sclp and there are 706 as of this morning. Not very long ago it was 300 or less, so interesting to observe as a barometer of interest that is presumably a reflection of interest elsewhere.

Thinking about it GF, I believe when he says 'we' he means 'I', and 'know' means 'guess'. It's like the doomies have always done - come out with some pile of guff of their own fantasy and then at the end say ' so we all agree' - as plausible as an extract from an Enid Blyton book. As for dealing pubically, I think (or is it 'we all know'?) he suspects he has you by the short and curlies, or at least got you in a close shave. What a load of balls!

A friend of mine in Milan (works at the istitutotumori coincidentally) spoke to me at the very start of this when Italy was hit first, her nephew is a hospital doctor and she described the situation then as 'like something from hell', among other things anyone over 60 was just turned away from hospital, full stop. Hands, face, space, disinfect, isolate, anything you can folks - stay safe and more cautious than ever. We all have a huge responsibility and individual caution can make a collective difference.

I must admit the confidence of the various spokespeople about the effectiveness of the current vaccines is touching but more hopeful than categorical imo - the point is they don't know for sure, and are basically playing catch-up behind a mutating virus. It is testament to the system in the UK that the new variant has been so well tracked, and it makes you wonder if other variants are breeding happily but unnoticed, rather than other areas being definitively free of other mutations. Who knows? But I am pleased that covidity is on the radar, and the fact it has already attracted 2.7m of government money imo means that one of two things should happen soon - either it gets shelved, or it gets more money. Avidimab could well attract a lot more attention too - avidity is a word that is gaining in popularity as well as T cells and immunotherapy, terms that lth in Scancell have been familiar with for a long time!
