I remember RG saying years ago that if you can reach a tumour to inject it, then you can arguably excise it. It's the inaccessible, mobile or tiny ones that you need to deal with, and Scancell's science has always aimed at that.

“Not been a straightforward hire” would show that the individual was selected but the attendant circumstances were what made it difficult, which imo says it was a matter of extracting the preferred individual from wherever they were ensconced. I'm sure many a self-professed expert will know why it was the wrong choice or just one of hundreds of suitable candidates, but it certainly feels like a very targeted person to fill a specific gap as part of a larger plan. Let's wait and see who is announced.
