RE: To all24 Nov 2018 13:37
I took your advice and reread the RNS extract quoted by Noise - The more carefully you read, the less you find it says, and it most certainly does NOT say that it works. It reads like a standard video waffle from GM. Let's look a bit closer at it - "The VAL201 compound has demonstrated consistent high safety and tolerability(so does a glass of water), and signs of efficacy ("signs of" - is that overwhelming efficacy or just 'signs', like the odd hint?) throughout its clinical study. A preliminary inspection of the clinical data derived from the original dosing regimen has been completed (so a PRELIMINARY inspection - that's not enough to draw any valid conclusion from) regarding all the subjects that have been treated to date. This inspection considered all dosing regimens (..so?). In summary, our preliminary observations highlight a dose-related impact (Looking for the word 'significant' or 'substantial' or even 'therapeutically relevant' - but can't see it) on patients' physiology and chemistry, such as androgen PSA and various cell and protein turnover factors, which are important in the treatment of cancer (thanks for that - typical GM tag-on statement - irrelevant and patronising). These are in line with anticipated outcomes as far as cancer reduction is concerned."
Many years ago I had a 250 Yamaha that had its engine intact and looked clean, no leaks and the tyres were pumped up. There were no adverse effects from sitting on it and it felt complete. What you might call decent safety and tolerability. When I tried to start it, I turned on the fuel and ignition and kicked the kick starter and it showed ‘signs’ of firing up (you could call that a dose related impact). All afternoon it showed ‘signs’ of firing up, and even ran for a few seconds now and then before cutting out. It burnt small amounts of fuel, and the exhausts got slightly warm occasionally, 'which are important in the running of an engine', to corrupt a phrase. The intermittent ignition, even for a few seconds, was in line with the anticipated outcomes as far as getting it running were concerned. But that was all it did. Eventually I put it up for sale. I had six replies from the small ad in the newsagent’s window, but none of them showed any interest after a short conversation or quick visit, although two did want to come at the same time so I had to ask them to arrive at different times – a bit of competition felt nice, but didn’t alter the reality. Nobody wanted it because it didn’t work anywhere near properly. It ended up in the canal.
