The documentary posted was a good watch! I always have more time for people who have been on the "other side" and then come out and say "somethings a miss here."
I used to weld wind turbines together at 700amps, many KMs of welding per tower that are then powder painted and roasted in a gas oven etc. The bigger and thicker turbines have a weld prep you could fit your hand in and needed to pre heated with gas before you could even start to weld them. All mild steel and only built to last 25years. Then there is the sub sea surveys to even place them in the sea, transport and if offshore the cabling to shore. The further out they are, the more Volt drop you will get. What is claimed is produced at the turbine head wont be received by the grid when they are 2 or 5 miles off shore. To power s small town you would needed an even bigger area of wind turbines, which would only provide intermittent power.
Problem is, all this "o2 footprint" has now been politicised and some are ruthlessly making money when they know its not the silver bullet. Isnt the world a funny place ?
