These energy plays are doing well. I am behind those with greater foresight but still hoping to have doubled up in the not so distant, if it can just keep going. I think it will, and I see the industrial applications as a driver.

I suggest people will be buying pasties more readily next year from the cash in their pockets, rather than say on budgeted items, foreign trips and expensive stuff. Cash in the till, and I should think the business can be scaled up quickly on demand. Comparatively early out of the blocks on a cash generative basis.

I do not know. But I agree, if I wanted a laugh, builders merchants would not be a first point of call.

To put the 2050 target into perspective, lest it becomes misleading, the UK already had a 2050 target - to reduce emissions by 80%, agreed under the Climate Change Act in 2008. The 'net zero' concept was introduced in 2019 ( plant trees and stuff as well ) So steps have been taken and are ongoing. The new impetus arises from the premise of accelerating the green agenda as a result of Covid and whilst satisfying the need to aid recovery through construction.

Cannot be other than advantageous to suppliers like Sig ( and other merchants ) This is an aspiration, in addition to planned publicly owned premise retrofits, and if carried through ( and there is obvious pressure to meet 2050 targets )will help underpin the likes of Sig in the years ahead.

Management buying would be a positive sign, at this terrible price.
If the company is doing much better than the price indicates, after we are told something, then they may take it private, using the same story as MXCP. Alternatively, is there the possibility of an offer from MXLG ( original thoughts being that's where it would end up)

Because Sig is coming off the bottom, directors are implementing change as we sit about, and the market is set to benefit from govt. initiatives.

Brexit, like the vaccine, may assist sentiment all round. Similarly, specifically, the spending review next week if investors are motivated by further mention of support for construction, which must be good for the sector. But in the end it is a recovery stock, and the price will go where the market decides on results.
I do not perceive any reasonably-based negativity around this share. I am betting that the next update will be positive in terms of the directors aims.

I have not found an update scheduled on a financial calendar, but year end is December. Histrically there was a January trading update.

Generalising, on the CFO. The decreasing share price cannot alone be attributed to Mr. Bickerstaffe alone - the £4 days had long gone when he joined somewhere around 260p - but he is/was a senior member of the management team, and he having done 14 years, they came to an understanding and searched for a replacement (there may also be other matters, personal, they do not tell us everything ) As a result of the issues on the A465 and P&H contracts, they tell us they made other management changes, and issues there will not have helped his position.
My view on Friday's little sell-off is that at the extremes the price had done 70% by then since the last low, and including in that the 8% or so Friday morning was too good to pass up.Some smart cookies out there who know when they personally have had a good run. Suits them.

Well said. I responded to their article yesterday in similar vein and had an automated response to the effect they read all feedback. I wonder if these things are generated by computer on stats alone. I think they must largely be.

Well, the global warming thing and promises made would always in theory drive the pioneers there. But it turns out they are actually serious about it. At least, killing two birds with one stone by spending on construction to help the economy and at the same time working towards green targets. It just seemed to me that the position taken on decarbonisation by Costain was passed by. So I had a look. I am not a hydrogen geek, and Costain does more than that anyway. Thanks for the info. It seems to me Costain has something in deblending that others will want, and we are due a rise.
