Have held shares in a few companies in the past like Aggreko and others where Blackrock sell and buy back in lower in the same week. I think they trade shares more than other big investors but who knows if the holdings notifications system really works. It is not as if the fca are going to put anybody in the stocks or on the bbq for non-compliance is it. Same with short selling declarations. Wonder if Woody is still invested here. Favourite Disney Pixar scene is when Woody leaps down from the barbeque and tells the vicious boy Sid to play nice because we toys see everything.

Velo probably works the other way round too so if they say to their coterie I am going to print a sell recommendation all the sheep sell allowing their buddies to buy cheap. Well Velo you are a man of mystique and intrigue. I have no idea what share you were trading/investing in in the US in your earlier little anecdote. Also could you not name and shame this financial journalist or his or her publication. Maybe these journos are responsible for some of the short term trading going on i.e. tell a group of friends to buy a share on the Friday which they will tip over the weekend and then when all the gullible sorts have bought it on the Monday morning it can be dumped by the friends on the Tuesday. One reason to steer well clear of Aims maybe and I think readers of bbs are a bit gullible as well sometimes. Do you think some bb space is being rented or just squatted in.

You sound like a person after my own heart and I have always found that it certainly pays to keep a printed record of anything said to you. You are entitled to have a change of heart about a share too so all that remains for me to do is bid you a fond farewell.

Well Grayling your broker's change of stance on the divi is a result for you as I know you said it was what put you off buying shares here in the past. Don't think my broker would be as accommodating as that. Did have a chat with bonz1957 about all these scrip, crip and drip things. Aren't they like your reduced commission deals and take control away from you as to when to invest or reinvest.

I sometimes get offered cheap dealing hours by my broker as well once a month. I have started to realise that they are just a gimmick and it is often not the right time of the month to buy much and during the quietest spell of the trading day to suit the broker - not necessarily me - and more costly in the long run to me but good luck.

Hello driftking27 I remember chatting to you on here maybe just before Christmas when you were very bearish on Rolls Royce at that point in time so I suppose I am surprised that you bought 2,000 a month ago at 22% higher than today. Maybe bought a couple of months ago? Also surprised to see Grayling previously bearish also seems to have bought in? Anyhoo since we last chatted, the share price got up near the £11 mark very gradually. You must have had reasons for buying when you did and if you think they are still valid then chill and steer clear of posters like seifert, not greedy and me in case we shake your belief in your investment. Have seen you around a few bbs of late where I have had a past, present or future interest and notice you saying you were holding from way back and had no idea of that since I had never seen you around those bbs when I was posting. Guess this could go either way in the immediate future but good luck.

on the Waverley on a Glasgow holiday Fair Saturday on July morning and the passengers were getting the "wave" from some of the few ship building workers remaining on the Clyde standing on dry land. Being Glasgow, there was a bit of banter and a few jokes with some of the passengers shouting get that tea down and get back to your work at once. I hope for Rolls Royce's sake that ajbennett is on his holidays from work. From the time of the postings today, it could be lunch time or tea break time I suppose. Alan can you not do something more relaxing than checking your shares during your breaks and if you are not on your breaks then get back to your work immediately please before this company sinks any further.

Good morning LeedsBradford - bit of an Indian summer on its way up north as I look out the window so going to make hay while the sun is shining as a farmer was telling me the other night. With rr. all I have done is follow the news - there's been a lot about - for quite some time. I don't know which way it is headed now but maybe sideways and a bit of a lull or consolidation phase coming up so I'm just going to sit back and learn from what pearls of wisdom the likes of Velo and yourself can come up with here for a wee while. To tell you the God's honest truth, I feel a bit inferior to all the big hitters here with massive holdings compared to the measly sums I am dealing in and I can just tell from Velo's comments that he went to a much better school than me. Best if I just read here for a wee while and see if I can learn from my betters before I commit any more of my housekeeping money. Keep the predictions coming in and good luck to all.

I think you might be on to a winner with the results the company turned out. It's never been much of a divi payer here and it is only once a year they pay out I think but as long as I see a wee return on my capital soon then I will be happy. Good luck.
