DD I am still awake and on line because I am trying to organise of all things a holiday. I've said for a while that I was not keen to buy back in here until the outcome of the Forsey case was known and the publicity from it died down and then another select committee comes along and cites MA to attend. I am a bit dubious about the select committees and their teeth and their motives as hinted at by Ashley. It all looked good for British retailers when the audit one grilled the chiefs of Amazon, google and starbucks about tax avoidance but a lot of time has passed and not a lot has come into the Treasury's coffers and the chair's own family business weren't paying a whole lot of tax either so hypocrisy seems to abound.
I think I differ from you when you said "I'm beginning to think there isn't much in the short term to get this moving North, results are some way off." I am thinking if there was any further adjustment to profit projections then the market would have been informed by now, Odey was buying more, the hedge fund shorting was reducing, spd have just raked in more profits from the sale of jd shares, a broker has just stuck its head above the parapet with a £5 price target for what that is worth, the company has pledged to pay above the minimum wage and there is a review of working practices or whatever being undertaken and, despite denials, people must be wondering if a buy back of the company is on the cards which would have to be at a premium.
Despite all the bruhaha, some people want to work flexible hours and spd are looking to provide many jobs in an unemployment blackspot viz Dundee in a new gym and retail space at a time when the local council there are looking to axe 200 jobs due to budget cuts so a lot of people are going to start to get impatient with professionals on high salaries like town planners seemingly holding things up. Mind you there are a lot of bargain shares out there at the minute.
I will try and pop in here now and again to chat as I still want to know what Ashley's game is with debs but there is a lot going on for me off board which must take priority over shares - however fascinating -at the minute. Work and family are very important to me.
