The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
LOL Nokesa I was trying to stand up for oldtimer over the options/decisions thingy with debs and seem to have got a kick in the teeth for my troubles but I didn't realise there was a wider spat going on elsewhere. When traders fall out eh Support from pfd holders for Debenhams now that's something. pfd apparently going bust according to bb posters for more than a decade. Over and out.
Yes very succinctly put. I thought I had blinked and missed £1.33 and £1.60 here at debs.
I have several days of preparations for a holiday which involve, inter alia, staring at screens and waiting for phone calls. I don't read your posts generally on lse but there is no escaping them here. The other night you had rather pedantically queried and to my mind tried to ridicule another poster over the use of the words "decisions" and "options". Quite unnecessary as is this constant use of inverted commas to quote and repeat what other posters have said. There is message view and there is thread view on here. Thread view is intended to avoid needless repletion. I don't take orders from folk now -self employed.
I wonder where I will get a pair of flip flops this time of year. Glad you are making money on your longs here Poker.
LOLCal Mac and the Waverly too windy this time of year Oldbadger.
My money's on both Dip. Off on holiday for some sun. ATB
Hi Nokesea aye same here with saga. Closed long too early and could have made more but that's life. I am not too au fait with this shorting malarkey and hear I could lose my shirt if Mike Ashley makes any sudden moves so have closed out on the spd short.
I've had a short position on spd for a while now but I'm thinking of closing it for some spending money. Thoughts anybody?
Hi Nokesa I'm away on my holidays. Have you got any ideas where to put your money now?
A dividend is nice but fewer companies these days pay them including spd. I think the market is expecting deb's not to pay one this time round so anybody on here saying the share will take a battering for something already factored in is talking up their position imo. If they can afford to pay one from improving profits then what effect might that have on the share price. Anybody investing here now like Invesco in not bothered about a divi and is looking for a massive capital boost and have weighed up the risk/reward ratio unlike somebody like Pokerchips who has posted paragraph upon paragraph without taking any position to make a brass farthing.
If the new Watford branch is going posh then it is the exact opposite of what is emerging at the relatively few HoF branches saved so far,
Forget all the nonsense on here yesterday about boohoo. All that has done is alert Marshall Wace and the like to its somewhat frothy price at the moment. I have a relatively modest long position here mainly comprising shares acquired for free dating back several years;. I maintain with any share that if a poster cannot tell you openly what they are doing then it is best to take anything they are writing with a huge pinch of salt. There's enough commentary on shares can be read off board and what I'm interested in is folk being prepared to put their money where their mouths are one way or t'other.
Post highly recommended.
But just one more for the road. thechancers I have never bought anything from Boohoo in my life. Would you like me to post that on the relevant bb. It's not boohoo most posters on here would think of as a buyer but another well known household name. Great stuff if your share price is at a near time high. That's not when most shrewd investors buy though is it..
But whatever it was I'd sell it pretty sharpish too. Have fun chaps that's me through here for a while.
If you can tell me what you have bought today then I'll give it due consideration. How's that.
Lol you are no doubt acquainted from the foot bb. Thank you both for your sterling contributions here. Full of insight.
I've done time in flybe. I wonder what it's time2 deramp and ramp this week. Some aimer no doubt.
bluster even.
Been watching you Pokerchips. You like to appear very knowledgeable but in reality you are really all bluff and buster as your name suggests.
Ah bisto but the bb's don't have all the info. A couple of us wondering if Mash could buy it. Is smash one of pfd's lines these days.
Looking for the floor might uncover a hidden trap door. It looks like internet only shopping is not the panacea to all ills after all. I wish I'd bought more rr. Velo even more pfg. Still there's the divi.
