Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Oh well Pandic 2 posts but I suppose you have to start somewhere. At least spd is holding up for you today unlike pmo which is a share that lets you down as often as it sparkles - I speak from experience.
Did you read the Alex Brummer article on this company recently as part of your research. He spoke of what might not be but what looks like nepotism within spd to the wider market and made a lot of other good points.
With Mike not wishing to engage with shareholders, the only reason the company has not gone private yet in my view is that he is going to need the shares to offer to buy Debenhams because he can't afford to buy it with cash. Newcastle United well it could be sold but it is providing advertising for spd rather than a slick telly ad. But deb's are getting in on the 3 for 2 Christmas gifts market with bhs out the way and House of Fraser not what it was for people with a bit more cash for expensive scents and the like. Duty free not what it was either. I know we get the odd comment on here from Rachel's dad but debs isn't jjb - not by a long stretch of the imagination. Coming to hq hof in Glasgow was a mistake. after the Rangers fiasco. That's the last of the monologues on here from me so I'll leave it to you Pandic. It was actually a parody of the man who will only speak to one shareholder here. This isn't a share for investors. It has never offered a divi even in seemingly good times. Just a day trading share now so good luck with the £4.80 target .
Good luck with it Pandic. I guess I'm struggling to understand how spd plan to be the Harrods of the High Street when they couldn't even be the top of the sports retailers. I'm not convinced the HoF venture can be turned around and there isn't enough info to hand yet on which stores will be saved and which will close. I was going to go to Halfords for the electric bike but have decided to get it from a local independent store offering good pre sales advice and good after sales maintenance.
The bb's are for discussion, debate, ideas but unfortunately some posters are ill equipped. Back to your hobby horse, Blackrock increased their short position today. If I can remember to look in at the end of 2019 I will but I suspect you will be long gone by then.
It's entirely with substantiation that Stobart made a move and there were other parties made initial soundings out but back to greggs. You'll be aware that Grimsby has been tagged the unhealthiest town in the uk with fast food places and bookies taking up most of the space on the High Street. That said less can be more. Took son to my local deli for a baguette before returning to school after a hospital visit a few years ago. Baguettes not yet delivered at around midday. Tried one of the many cafes - had none of the basic fillings we wanted. Tried one other of around teens number places in a tiny place and they had stopped doing hot bacon and cheese. Went home for a sandwich. It's hairdressers, beauticians, barbers that hot food that flourish where I am but lost one of the baker's shops and the greengrocer. Son went back to school and told the English teacher Willy Russell should have remained a barber. Mind you I don't need much of all these beauty salons as I'm looking hot in a hot squash thermal dress. I'm happy on the Alpen and looing better for it.
But I guess with your short at flyb this morning, you weren't in need of any laxatives lol.
It's a bowl of porridge you need with some fresh blueberries and a recipe book for avocado.
It seems to be headed back to at or around where I sold. Have you got any other angle besides the Blackrock short is toast. I like greggs a lot as a company. They support children in need and donate well to events in the communities but they need to start looking at healthier options the way Barr has done as the anti sugar and obesity campaigns are here to stay as the nhs is on its knees. It doesn't help when you have a notorious ramper and deramper of stocks here everyday telling us he walks 50 steps a day munching a greasy pie in public after his full breakfast.
Good effective advertising from JD imo
Look I'm not a deramper like monkeyman but ffs what's going on here.
Do your bit. Hope these items sell well this week in particular. More generally have had message for the first time in years of shopping with them on line that one item is to be refunded. Less than 3 in stock last nigh at the time of placing the order and notified this morning that I missed out. A few alternatives so not too disappointed. Wonder if the stores are replicating the on line sales rush.
And the Philip Day guy might also be in the frame. I just like company for numerous reasons and they did come quite high up in a survey of reputable retailers. There are some customer services departments of retailers who completely cheese off customers trying to defend the indefensible but debs folk always see sense. I've bought nearly 20 Advent Calendar style gifts - one can even be worn - with unconventional contents because I am a sucker for that sort of thing and just like novelty ideas without paying too much attention to the price - the joy of shopping if you like at this time of year. Happy to hold with the prospect of either recovery or takeover in sight. It's moving down the list of highly shorted companies and wouldn't even be there at all if Odey ( a spd investor) didn't have such a large and anomalous looking short position. The other companies being heavily shorted have screeds of hedge funds on their backs which is more telling. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
There are fewer physical locations where they are in competition now given the piecemeal info becoming available on which HoF branches are getting the chop. Debs is stronger than HoF with a better reputation so exactly who needs who do you think Applegarth.
Brother's widow has had to stop 40 lengths in the pool - hips gone and walking. Aqua aerobics nice and gentle on the joints.
for Children in Need starts 8th November
Voted King of the unhealthiest High Streets https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-46070669
New Primark though could do well and a reversal of the cva hit list by HoF and apparently staying open in Grimbsy maybe the Head of Lifts is introducing veggie burgers. Thought spd had taken over Evans ladies outsizes from Philip Green but it was the bike shop which was well lit up in Bath Street around 5 last Sunday night. I'll take an interest free loan from the Scottish government and buy an electric bike in Evans if this company does something for Children in Need cycle appeal this year. It would enhance the company reputation no end just ask the new guy from Greggs. See if we have a deal or no deal but still time to do something nice and I get on my bike for Christmas.
Not doing too badly as a bricks and mortar retailer according to ABF and more than helping them offset the effects of low sugar prices.
I don't really have time to read all the comments on the bb through the week from posters like lse2000 who are clearly taking guesses on day trading this - I'm day trading daily patterns easier to read with other shares. Gets very busy at this time of year but will make a point of reading Applegarth who is clearly waiting for much bigger gains like the guy from Invesco. With all that was said about rates and the budget did we miss this https://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/news/3065360/uk-government-goes-it-alone-with-digital-services-tax-tailored-for-amazon-ebay-facebook-and-google
capital growth seen as the main driver but still a small dividend being offered.
HoF concessions ended https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/oct/25/house-of-fraser-scs-to-close-all-concessions-furniture-flooring
I'm going to give you a whirl as last two burgundy leather sofas from your competitors have lost colour very quickly and leather doctor very expensive and Andrew Muirhead a bit out of my league at the moment. Good luck
Lord Sugar and the apprentices perhaps but the BoD and Liberum analysts should watch. They sold a lot of shoes this week.
