Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
House of Fraser dead. Tell us something we haven't already known for years.
Tilly I hope your loyalty and faith is rewarded. What's that Sister Christmas Sledge song called. We are family.
And remember this is the guy who doesn't want to engage with his shareholders. Pearls good luck with your Mike's gonna takeover Debenhams theory and give me lots of lovely spd shares and/or cash. I wouldn't trust Mike or Odey as far as I could throw either of them and the plan might be to take this private and rook naïve shareholders. I am definitely in the Mulder camp and would run a mile for investing in anything involving either of these two.
Tilly Tish happy with what exactly. I remember you here at £7.00 plus gushing about the great back to school range of spd. I hope it washed well and you got lots of wear out of it. I did okay to escape at those levels and I had another bash in the two up to the four but there's no divi and it looks like Mike is not the retail guru he was cracked up to be. He needs to do something radical to fare well domestically and internationally going nowhere. Ramp away.
Ah but the sales staff can be asked to assist at Loch Lomond when Glasgow is quiet. I wonder if there is any mileage allowance paid for that but no wonder the soul was going on about having to buy £75 worth of petrol.
I don't need to read anything further about Carpetright. It's been struggling for as many years as HoF and was one I used to look in on purely because some long lost posters like lego and bonz1957 had some interest there. Digs at posters? who me?. You were the one calling me prickly but it matters not a jot to me.. Never mind daft comments about channel and tell us what you think about the council in Doncaster's benevolence with the business rates for uncle Mike or are you totally obsessed about cvas.
Well of all the double standards eh. I think somebody told me discussing HoF had no relevance here yesterday but here we are chatting away about Carpetright. Do they sell wooden floors because our pup has just chewed the carpets. HoF commentary here entirely relevant - a former director of spd slipped that merger had been discussed with debs, they are in the same sector and Mike Ashley has been talking to Select Committee about saving the High Street and has near 30% stake here. It was an hour long speech and the best point was looking for additional taxes to be levied on digital on line giants. Oh and the council seem to have been kind on rates in Doncaster. They were watching Sheridan Smith as well on Sunday night.
Starting to rise again as predicted. Let's see if Odey is invested in a huge turkey. HoF staff nice and relaxed doing yoga in the run up to Christmas and a man's wife who works at debs run off her feet.. You heard it here first
Spd share price going nowhere following recent acquisitions of loss making companies including HoF. What if he bought something still in profit for a change which allows a foot in the door in Scandinavia but domestically Philip Green has lots of concessions within debs so you might get the bidding war you are hoping for Pearls. Trying to rub the Rangers supporters up in Glasgow with HoF is a big mistake as they make up the bulk of the population in Scotland and, apart from Rod Stewart and a few others, the gers fans account for the lion's share of all the comfortably off people in Scotland with years of inherited wealth. I would want to have them as customers and I am a Celtic fan. Playing the sectarian card went out with the Ark.
Hi Knigelk - well there has been nobody really on the spd bb for months but that could certainly change this week with the interim results if HoF is in trouble. spd fallen to a year low this morning. Every reason for me to raise both retailers I think here but it the only chat is going to be chucking about insults then yeah a complete waste of time. . Now if the only accusation somebody can trump up as regards me is that I had too much time on my hands on a Sunday then there's no way I'll be wasting any more time here this week but well I learned to touch type and don't need a spell checker. I think Scottish education is still the best despite the snp. Doubt if there is anybody up here admitted to an accountancy degree course has bother differentiating affect and effect. Cheerie bye.
Sorry was watching the Jimmy McGovern drama tonight - a bit more interesting than reading a lot of what is on this bb at the mo- and think there will be a few gongs for that one Your posts have confused me at times talking about "we" as if you were invested rather than watching from the sidelines. My in laws talk about "we" as well and it definitely doesn't include me lol. I am actually wondering if House of Fraser will be a goner again soon and to that extent will be paying more attention to spd than deb this week. I wouldn't rise to the bait on here. If somebody has to resort to calling you prickly or whatever it generally means they have lost the debate.
It's going to take more than saving HoF Grimsby to turn it into the Harrods of the north if the Glasgow flagship is floundering and bizarrely seems to be relying on stirring up the kind of silly divisions and bigotry most Glaswegians have put firmly in the past. Doesn't make commercial sense to me and not the way to go about maximising any business let alone becoming the saviour of the High Street.
Visited one of the modern stores in a mall which offers free parking. As you would expect at this time of year, it was busier than usual. From what I am about to say, readers might understand why I don't want to identify the branch. I had to visit click and collect. A cheery faced youth was ordered to take her break and leave me with a member of staff who had been with the company for yonks. I thought she was a bit grouchy but she told me she was tired. I only had the order reference for one of my orders and there was no way the other order could be found without my reference as the number of parcels through the back was just so huge. I told her I was pleased to hear that for many reasons and it was no problem as I'd have bother carrying it all away on one visit anyway.
Lady said her husband had moved from debs to House of Fraser and his day was so relaxed in comparison with hers and I simply hadn't the heart to tell her that might not be a good sign for her husband's job security. Her husband was a Celtic support and liked Mike but previously the Frasers staff had enjoyed holidays like teachers and that had been cut and it looked like there was a staff discount at Frasers which was so good that there would be no profit for the company on goods sold to staff. I wonder if Mr. Odey and his friend are aware of the spending power of Rangers fans in Scotland. To have only one half of the Old Firm represented at the switching on your Christmas lights as hof did in Glasgow is commercially not very savvy in my view. Better by far to attract custom from the entire community. I hope this tired lady puts her feet up at home and gets her less busy hubby to cook the tea. And I hope she is not on the click and collect desk when I visit for my other parcel lol.
Poor old killie suffering a drubbing at the hands of Celtic. I am sorry I missed you last post on here to me Traveller. I work hard and play well is the simple answer. Now if the charts can tell me precisely when to buy and sell then I will be all ears lol.
What I am pointing out to you is that like Manchester, you were failing to point out that HoF has reversed previous decisions in that case by spd and in the case of Grimbsy by the old HoF to close the stores and they are remaining open. You have no knowledge of what terms have been reached between the retailer and the landlord in respect of the current situation with these stores. I don't read much of the drivel posted on these bbs but I seem to recall you buying at 9p and if my memory is correct then I wonder why you were buying at all if you are so concerned. Never know when the avuncular Knigelk is in or out of here either as seems to blow as much with the wind as the lse character. Now if you'll excuse me, I am a normal person so I'll be out shopping today.
is posting outdated articles on this thread again - this time from June relating to HoF Grimsby closing . Surprisingly enough it seems to have got a reprieve according to more recent articles and was considered the grimmest High Street in Britain in a recent survey. I don't think debs have a branch in Grimsby which is probably no bad thing. I wish people would take a break from posting and do some proper research before posting up articles which even if not intended are highly misleading.
I might be wrong but I wonder if that is as good as it is going to get. It's not top of the political agenda right at the moment but we are starting to see signs of digital services taxes for some global companies and in business it is spotting the changing or turning trends before most others. https://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/news/3065360/uk-government-goes-it-alone-with-digital-services-tax-tailored-for-amazon-ebay-facebook-and-google
Time to diversify the portfolio a bit more?
Traveller even is probably on his travels counting his pfg winnings. Fine committed Board of Directors now at Killie prepared to invest and put their money where their mouths are and might go the whole way with the league and in Europe. We can dream..
PS no idea what the charts are saying here and don't really give two hoots either lol.
Well wasn't down below £6 for too long is all I can reiterate here. Just popped in to wish you a Merry Christmas and guid New Year. Things really looking up at Killie and top of the league to boot. atb
from Buchanan Street could be next on the cards Cambridge Blue. Probably wouldn't even need the council's consent and some officials and councillors might even be persuaded to go though the polis wouldn't allow mulled wine in the street.
