Much of the confusion arose I think was related to the potential pathogenicity of omicron and it effect on the innate immunity . Firstly , the first paper they suggest omicron has reduced capability of antagonising the host cell interferon response.This fits in with the clinical picture ie generally resulting in mild disease compared with Delta
The second paper suggests and elevated capability of suppression of IFN induction would predict greater virulence of omicron resulting in severe disease like Delta and we know its not ?

If the results were ready to release then they should be regardless of other world events I think we have waited long enough through other traumatic events affecting the share price eg vaccines etc If positive result were released today we would have seen a relatively smaller rise but retained our newbie investors and provided a safe haven for newer investors jumping in from today's carnage

Although the researchers emphasise omicron resilience to IFN -alpha .Also the in vitro results do not fit with the clinical picture that basically omicron is a far less severe disease compared with Delta ?

We know Omicron is less antagonistic to interferon beta during infection , so poses less of a challenge to our treatment

Agree Woodstock very concerning especially after listening to the Ukrainian Defence Minister on Hard Talk on BBC 24hr News last night sounded very matter of fact that conflict would be inevitable and there will be a lot of blood shed and mass movement of refugees into Europe .I personally don't think its Putin just playing Devil's Advocate with Ukraine and Nato or will Boris have his greatest 'Churchillian' moment yet ,conflict in Europe Hope not

I believe that the LF T is affimer, antigen, and antibody with detector, Sandwich assay and I assume the antibody detector is polyclonal but not having sufficient affinity for all omicron variants or if its monoclonal there would be a greater loss of sensitivity ? Even so this is only a modest technical problem can be overcome easier than tweaking a vaccine for the next mutation

Catching up on the News and reading the RNS .It appears to me that the problem lies as I understand it with the "commercially available antibody " not the affirmer itself .If there are a multitude of Omicron mutations it would be impossible to produce a commercial polyvalent antibody with the affinity to keep up rate of omicron mutations This must be an anticipated problem with all diagnostic test using Antigen/Affimer to bind antibodies when dealing with an very diverse variant .It seems to me a predictable outcome Why haven't other diagnostic companies reported this problem or have they just not owned up to it ? AS should clarify that the affirmers are not the problem

"Torotrak" just sent shivers down my spine .Lost a lot money on that company great piece of engineering ,but too late getting it to market because of electrification .Deja vu? I hope not
