I agree the primary end points of recovery and discharge seem to have been have improved enormously since the start of the pandemic as a result of the NHS's top of SOC and the use of Dexa and now we got other antivirals that prevent hospitalisation / and pills like Sarem produces that could work more effectively and replace Dexa The only meaningful clinical advantages for sng001 in trials is to demonstrate a reduction in mortality which I guess could be at least 40%- upto 80% (Dexa has a 30% efficacy in reducing deaths) We must not forget that Sng001 is a safe agnostic antivirals perfect for defending against all variants and future pandemics and stockpiling etc. And in the case of viral induced COPD our broad spectrum antiviral / immunomodulator a advantages over steroids which are just anti inflammatory .

This is the actual response AZ gave when they were criticised for not having sufficient data /evidence on efficacy for the > 50 years of age cohort in their recent vaccine trials .Interesting concept for those hung up on p values or a lack of power in clinical trials Perhaps all is not lost , it worked for AstraZeneca

Something similar was said about lack of data for > 50 years of age AZ vaccination trials .Worth reading the link I found by chance and no I do not need anti depressants after miserable Monday , but SNG must plough on and eke out the evidence . Synairgen were aware of the problems of steroids and the their overwhelming affect on sng001.The expert opinions of Dr Penny Ward mentioned this in the P2 results
. "How do the results compare to dexamethasone?
“This did not include patients requiring ventilatory support which is the population which derived greatest benefit from dexamethasone treatment. Receipt of corticosteroid may overwhelm the effect of inhaled interferon in patients treated in ICU, and this needs to be further investigated.”

That said they still have an IP and patient that Sng001 can be used with steroids was that just on the basis of safety or efficacy ?
Also P2 trial results although showed the likelihood reduced discharged and recovery but still were not statistically significant It seems to me there are so many confounding factors to get achievable success in in this setting and the only way forward is to concentrate on reduction of mortality which it has show strong signal in both P2 and P3

I am not on Twitter ,but dare I mention his name I wonder what Sir Peter Horby has made of this especially the steroids may be a factor in our trial .Horby himself has many set backs in trials

Lost lots . But the disappointment is compounded by the drug has yet not saved any significant number of lives even though we know the science tell us we have the solution to defeat this disease The trial demonstrates up to three fold clinical effect in mortality reduction over placebo albeit without significance p= > 0.05 and therefore it deserves further investigation and Active2/3 pending may save the day GLA

Agree that RNS spooked and panicked me into pressing the sell button believing the trial had failed .It should have accentuated the positives rather than bury them at the end . On further reading it evidently had not failed on mortality reduction and I swifty bought back in to retrieve half of my holding . This was not a time to hide the light behind the bushel .Just as in the HT sent the SP crashing on poor communication even though the results were deemed encouraging it came across as inconclusive

What would have happened if they use a comparator drug like regeneron and achieved similar end points as the comparator would that be considered a success ?
Why didn't Sng report IV omicron results .Did the they assume too much or what ?

I do remember your previous posts probably at the end of 2020 and your serious concerns of this nasty virus affecting your family. With no vaccinations around then , the only hope was of sng treatment to hang onto .Its seems like so very long ago , lets hope the long wait is over soon

Many subsets of T cells exist and Regulatory T cells are linked to immunosuppression of inflammation as a result of Covid19 respiratory syndrome in the above reference . Presumably as the paper suggest increasing Treg cells will be an important potential immunotherapy . The authors do not mention interferon beta enhancement of Tregs as in the tissue grafts, perhaps I should inform them that a immunotherapy already exists for Covid .It does demonstrates however, the great complexity of these immunological mechanisms
