I also went to the cinema over the weekend, and it was really busy. One family at the kiosk were arguing over who was going to pay for all the popcorn and sweets!!! The kids couldn't carry anymore!!! People just want to treat themselves and feel normal again. It's not only the cinemas that are enjoying this much needed uplift in trade, pubs and restaurants are also very busy. I see these as good value at the current price.I bought 30,000 shares yesterday @ 250p. Every Harvester I have visited has been packed, inside and out. With the restrictions finally lifted as of yesterday, their entire portfolio of pubs and restaurants are set to get busier. People aren't going abroad this year, so they will spend their money right here in the UK. People have been locked up for a long time, and families are not taking their Mum and their Dad, Gran and Grandad out for a reunion celebration. It may well be a different scenario up north, but in the south pubs and restaurants are extremely busy.

Well this hasn't dropped anywhere near what was probably expected, and also with the FTSE100 down over 2%. Well done if you collected the 54p dividend. Looking forward to the trading update. Good luck.

I agree, it always seems to drop more than the actual dividend. On the last dividend, I managed to sell on ex-dividend day in early trading, and get a fairly decent price. I was hoping for 3000p prior to ex-dividend, but that certainly doesn't look like it's happening!!! If it could close above 2900p on Wednesday, and I manage to sell at around 2850p I'd be more than happy. I would like to be back in though prior to the trading update. compound - I share your sentiments. I also think that 3000 is achievable prior to ex-dividend. If it breaks 2900 by Friday this week, then 3000 is practically nailed on. I'm surprised it hasn't already gone higher with recent trading update, upgrading revenue forecasts. I will definitely be holding until the dividend. Good luck.

The shorts are also hedges for some of the massive holdings. There are very few shares in free float, and it would take very little volume to send this north. Not long now!!!

One thing to bare in mind, is that ABC sold over 4m of their holdings at 39.4p. This may well indicate that the offer could be anywhere between the current SP and 39p, or ABC could have been realigning their holdings, they have certainly bought more back than they sold at 39.4p.

Roxbury - I have quite a significant holding in AA and each penny movement makes a huge difference. Good luck with your holding. I admire your bravery. You deserve to be rewarded.

The slow price drop doesn't surprise me in the least, and the fact that they can do it on very little volume causes me very little concern at this stage. I agree it's certainly not pretty to watch and endure!!! But the minute volume kicks in, it will move north fairly rapidly. I wouldn't be surprised if it finishes blue today. Peeps are going to get shaken out and stopped out with these drops though, which is exactly what they're designed to do. Good luck.

1m shares would be half of the volume today, so it would certainly help. But I think you're being hyperthetical, because there are very few private investors going into the market and buying 1m shares, they are not the norm, they are rarity. The institutions currently control the SP, because there is very little free float left now. As each week goes by, there is less and less.

PI's do not figure in the equation at all, unless they were in at under 20p. The minute it spikes the board will be chock a block with them. They will all be LTH'S with extremely low averages!!!

I don't mind waiting either for those sort of returns. But the expression "Not long now" is the type that would be used by a lifer come to the end of his prison sentence!!! Not long now, only another 5 years!!!

Down 1.55p yesterday! What's the betting it will be up 1.55p today? It just needs a tad more volume.

Mr.Flibbles - I like the analogy. Even a multiple of 8 × EBDITA would be lovely for all of us. AA announced the approach to the market on the 4th August, but these preliminary talks have been going on for a long time. AA's hand was forced when the FT leaked an article. I also think the two PE companies that have joined forces to table a bid was instigated by the AA. You have to ask yourself, for what reason would two competitors join forces and become allies??? The SP is being toyed with at the moment, and they will take it to wherever they want. They now hold all the cards, and as a consequence they will try and flush out every small private investor they can. The institutions will always make sure they have the cream!!!
