Just a small point, not strictly novacyt related but is anyone not more than a little concerned about whats going on in the UK atm.
UK has consistently had one of the highest rates of endemic infection of delta Covid cf the rest of Europe for quite some time now.
It's now got Omicron to get its Jive on in this melting pot, here in the UK.
So... that means, here currently, in the UK, we have a very high base rate of delta covid circulating, now an unruly cousin, who has loads of mates, has gatecrashed this party.
Omicron has posted this party on an open social media channel, everyone reading that post is doing a pile on.
So, lucky us, are now going to have both of these unwelcome guests, inviting all their, equally unwelcome friends coming to this party in our house, the UK.
As with any free for all, these viruses are going to get jiggy with it and start sharing "things"
So we have delta, who isn't very nice, sharing with Omicron, who is a social butterfly getting together en masse.
Anyone else worried about their kids??

Meh, focus on the facts re novacyt on this board please. We are not here to discuss vaccine policy etc.
Its clear to me, following the emergence of Omicron that testing requirements aren't going to drop off anytime soon, so novacyt may want to readjust their forecast.
In the next few days the HPA advice to testing labs will be to assume any new positive covid tests will be Omicron. Its already well established and will very soon become the dominant strain. Hopefully its not as severe as delta, but if it effect 3x as many ppl, thats going to be a lot of ppl requiring hospital intervention.
That pressure on the NHS, means other non covid treatments will be delayed and that in a nutshell is why the government is so concerned. I knew this winter would be bad with the re emergence of flu but with this new variant thats got an R value of 2 -3 means we could be in serious trouble.

There are loads of covid testing jobs currently on offer already too.
Its going to be difficult filling all these vacancies

The returned stocks, as I understand it, are freeze dried and if they had been stored correctly then they have a shelf life of 18 months, so potentially could be resold, probably at reduced cost but better than seeing it all thrown in the bin. Interesting times ahead.

UK Plc is in deep, deep trouble

I consider myself, rightly or wrongly, quite clued up with all things covid related.
I'm becoming increasingly unsettled by the global response to Omicron.
The measures being applied globally bear no relation to previous variants.
I'm beginning to wonder if there's something we, the public, aren't being told. I would like to think I've never gone into hyperbole but the response from everyone, globally, seems disproportionate.
From what I've been able to find out so far, there's a very mixed picture coming out of South Africa. Its hard to draw many conclusions so far.
Omicron will now be well established in the UK already and, if SA data is reliable, will be spreading widely.
My main concern is now for the most vulnerable ppl in the UK, irrespective of what that means for Novacyt.
I've lost a few friends already to covid, I don't want to lose anymore.
Get jabbed and boosted, wear a mask in public places. Don't follow government guidelines, they make no sense. Do what YOU think is right for you.
I knew this winter would be bad but this new development has made things worse.
Look after yourself and your family, ive just got over Covid, my smell & taste hasn't come back yet. I don't want to get this again.

Its very probably well established in the UK already, it doesn't take many initial cases and its out in the wild again. By the time these variants pop up its already too late.
Here we go again, the government response is cause for concern they've never responded like this before.

Glad I no longer work in the NHS any more, they must be worn out, 2 years of full on covid, and its starting again

@trouble, yh thats what I'd read too, its now going direct into the lungs and causing viral pneumonia before any other symptoms, which is a worry.

Very interesting response from government, they are all clearly very worried about this. They normally have been very reluctant to act quickly, this feels very different.
I've read a few articles about this today, it doesn't make me feel like this is losing its pathogenicity, quite the opposite in fact, its behaving in a completely different way and it feels quite ominous.
It feels like it should be taken seriously, the government response seems to reflect this concern.
Troubling times, it was bound to happen, covid going nowhere. It now bears no relationship to the original wuhan version, which we have all been vaccinated against. Here we go again

Interesting day, tbh didn't expect today to end red but there you go, that's the AIM markets for you, a place where logic doesn't exist.
Nothings changed today, prospects still looking good, testing, if anything, will increase in the short term.

I think the biggest challenge now for Novacyt is going to be keeping up with demand. I think DHSC and therefore the UK will suffer. All this messing about over the contract is going to hurt the UK.
DHSC may well find themselves at the back of the queue, tbf, if I was in DAs position I'd tell them to go forth and multiply. They screwed the company when they thought the threat was over. Anyone with a brain knew this winter would be bad. DHSC need to settle up, pay their dues and place another massive order and stop messing about.
Remember the phase 2 that they cancelled, if they would have implemented that then community testing would now be well established and providing a much needed testing capability. But no, they decided not to go ahead and are now panicking.
We are truly led by morons, they are culpable for so many deaths

I feel like things are falling into place now for Novacyt. I was late to the party and my average is about £10.
I could have walked away after a month with a 30% profit but doubled down at the peak because I got greedy.
I've subsequently watched it plummet to just over £2.
I held firm and didn't crystallise my losses. This is a fantastic fledgling company, in a brand new area of commercial diagnostics and they are consistently ahead of the game.
I still think that the long term potential of this company is amazing.
Now with the realisation that covid and pcr testing isn't going away.
The community diagnostic hubs in the UK
Promoting non covid revenue streams, the potential in cancer testing.
I had a wobble a few months ago, when it was rock bottom but held firm, the fundamentals are there.
I've a funny feeling that the DHSC dispute will be resolved soon as they need more kits and hopefully more machines, plus the non UK markets.
I Never predict SP but even though I'm still well underwater, I'm not worried anymore and suspect in a few years will be a happy man

I'd just like to clarify, I'm not suggesting that Novacyt are a lead player in this contract but they could be a supplier to those who win the contract.

This is the mutation everyone was dreading, inevitably its happened.
Globally, no one is safe until everyone is safe.
This pandemic requires a global coordinated response, which is never going to happen. As today's news has shown, developed nations vaccinate their own populations, in the meantime under developed nations don't and the virus has a party and comes back

Further digging finds that these are not just covid testing centres but opening up the whole of diagnostics away from the acute hospital setting, that said, they will be offering pathology services and its a near patient testing environment which falls right into novacyts remit.
This is a £10 billion contract, lots to play for and novacyt must be a contender for this opportunity

Further to my post, looks like the above project is underway, project management jobs being advertised, so its going ahead, no references to Novacyt yet but they will need something to use, Novacyt must be in with a shout for this contract, there's no one else that comes close to them for this POC project.
