@Rise it most certainly IS a vascular type virus, the respiratory presentation is just a sequelae of an organ that us very vascular.
There is tons of research still underway to try to understand the true pathogenesis of Covid.
Also, are we taking bets on yet another innocuous post of mine being pulled.

In this new mindset of, 'if we don't test for covid, it looks like its gone' from our fantastically in tune Government, it looks like Covid didn't get them memo.
Cases shooting up markedly in the last few weeks, its up over 50% in some areas within the last 7 days.
Sadly hospital admissions are following behind and sadly more deaths.
Any lingering doubt that this is a seasonal virus have firmly been put to bed. It would appear now that the general population are now expendable but thats a price our PM is willing to take, bless him.
Not sure this will translate into many more sales for Novacyt but any thoughts that covid is yesterday's news couldn't be further from the truth if you can be bothered to look.
I don't think we will ever have another national lockdown but re introduction of social distancing and/or masks wouldn't go amiss before the shít really hits the fan in August. Sadly we are now following the polls & not the science.

This is a very real & worrying development.
Normal adenovirus that usually just causes colds and nothing more appears to have taken on a much more malignant path. Its a global phenomenon too.
I'm not sure if this is anything to do with Covid and viruses sharing genes but this is a very unwelcome development

@kaeren, they need a panel test, so that they can analyse a sample for multiple infectious agents in 1 go.

In the current UK climate, as far as the government is concerned, covids over, despite nearly 1500 deaths a week that don't even make the news, other than covid levels continue to fall, which is the corollary of reducing testing so duh..
So future revenue for the future from covid is going to fall imo.
Taking this at face value, the cash boost from covid moved the company on massively and they are now sat on a cash pile to use for the future developments.
I'm encouraged by the recent results, they weren't as bad as I was expecting and I'm really optimistic about the new direction that things seem to be going in.
At this rate I'm going to have to post a public to DA.
underpromise and overdeliver is always a good way to go.
I'm prepared to wait to see where this goes, could be very interesting, think I may even average down now at these prices

Good to see that they are now looking much wider and broader than uk/dhsc.
Its a big wide world out there with a plethora of opportunities in all kinds of spheres, not just UK, not just covid.
Travelled to Tanzania a few yrs a go, they were sh1 t hot on yellow fever vaccination, massive problem in that part of the world, trying to limit spread etc, another massive opportunity especially with their lab in a bag.
I'm liking these directions, just need to turn them into cold hard sales now but again, encouraging new direction, good news

I would expect a qualified doctor to know more than you appear to.

If you have really invested as much as you say you have, without doing your own due diligence then that's entirely on you.

Biosensors are real time analysers that are actually attached to the patient and provide real-time results to the patients or anyone who needs to know.
The best example at the moment is monitoring blood glucose levels for diabetics. This is now well established, my nephew who is a type 1 diabetic has one.
I'm intruiged to know what areas they are considering, nonetheless it's a good move, its niche area but can have a major impact on quality of life for patients.
This is a departure from the pcr type testing for Novacyt.
Hmm, it's got me thinking. There are so many patients on long term therapy who require blood samples to measure the levels of specific drugs in their blood stream.
These are 1 off tests at a specific and singular point in time.
If they are developing systems that are none invasive and provide continuous monitoring of their treatment levels, WOW, these could be linked to the appropriate health care professionals looking after them to alert them when a patient needs intervention.
Jesus, this is the stuff of science fiction .
A very interesting development and a very different direction from Novacyts original path.
Thats not to say this new development is a distraction but just another string to their bow.
If this is down to DA then I could be convinced that actions speak louder than words and may change my opinion of him.
I feel better about my investment now after reading this. This is good news

From my perspective its something I would like to see at some point.
Its a much more complex than infectious diseases testing, so I am quite sanguine about it not being mentioned.
The areas they have said they are focusing are much lower hanging fruit, which to me is much more sensible at this juncture.
They need to establish a revenue generating product line to enhance the stability of the company so they can build a solid foundation to build for the future.
Cancer testing is high risk, high reward. Novacyt would do well to keep this area in their sights but not just yet.
It could be highly lucrative, some tests currently retail at about £1500 EACH but they are a high risk area and will suck up lots of R&D time and money, Novacyt are not this kind of company, yet.

I have to admit, this novacyt journey hasn't been the 1 I anticipated when I first invested.
I am or rather was involved in diagnostics, still have many colleagues who are still in.
I invested initially because I saw an opportunity, novacyt were leading the way in a whole, brand new area of commercial molecular diagnostics.
I was 30% up on my initial investment after just 4 weeks.
In my 20/20 hindsight view, I should have cashed out and walked away.
Sadly I didn't I got greedy so doubled down and here we are.
All that said, I invested because molecular diagnostics is the way forward and novacyt are still one of the major players.
Their R&D is really second to none, that team produces amazing results, time after time.
The time from development to a commercial product is insanely short.
No one else comes anywhere near.
They are such an agile company & respond to new challenges immediately, this response time can't be matched by bloated mega companies.
So why do I now continue to hold after nursing some heavy losses ?
Primarily because molecular diagnostics is the way forward.
We are moving from phenotypic style diagnostics to a molecular level one. This brings so many benefits.
To put this into context, eye colour or hair colour depends upon your genes.
The colour of either is a phenotypic expression of the underlying genes.
Novacyt are now in the position to be able to identify genes that control these outcomes before waiting to see what happens.
The applications for this kind if technology are only limited by your imagination.
This new area of diagnostics will be worth trillions in the coming years, globally.
Understand your market, realise what the potential impact of technology like this could mean, think outside the box, if you don't know, then perhaps Novacyt isn't for you.

For me, personally, ive invested money i can afford to lose but fundamentally I still believe in the technology.
So, once we get thru these tricky early days doing OK, I'm hold, holding held

@crl, I'm afraid I concur, novacyt were actually one of the very few real companies who stood up and helped, a lot.
They have always seemed to play with a straight bat.
They tried to help, they developed a test that would help, we need to be cognisant of the situation at that time.
In many ways developing Promate was a bad idea.
They could have done nothing and just said, we delivered what you ordered and left it at that.
But, no, they realised that we were in dire straits then as a country, so stepped up and tried to improve the situation for the greater good, at considerable expense to them.
Their reward ? Being sued by the same government they were trying to get out of a hole of their own making.
You couldn't make it up really.
The sooner this bunch of charlatans are out of office the better.
I'm not sure if anyone has been paying attention but did you happen to notice which bills actually went thru parliament today ?

Probably the same as the nightingale hospitals too, v expensive PR window dressing.
Both v v expensive, lots of ppl made lots of money and both could have been replaced with paying for enhancements to existing services at a fraction of the cost, track & trace too.

Yes, that was good news.

What I was looking for in the RNS was a move away from the covid dependent testing and an uptick in a wider non UK markets, which would appear to be improving.
Also, now these q machines are in most English labs now already I know some labs are looking at alternative uses for them away from covid, so that's also a positive.
But I think we will continue to see in covid related revenue as the testing requirements are pared back, as predicted by novacyt.
The lift nova got from covid has probably taken 5yrs plus off novacyts maturing process and they are now in a much better position to regroup and invest in future non covid markets and possibly M&As to further support the brand.
No quick wins on the horizon I suspect but long term slower but stable growth.

The machines are performing well where they are in use, no issues reported at all as far as I'm aware

If I'm reading this correctly it gives a little more detail on the actual nature of the dispute.
I think I was at least partially correct, a small proportion of the dispute does relate to phase 1, that I suggested yesterday but the bulk of the dispute would seem to suggest its around all the tooling up to support the anticipated phase 2 which never materialised.

On the whole quite a disappointing update, not much of a sign of pulling a rabbit out of a hat.
This hasn't made me change my opinion of DA, very much a letdown imo
