That broker note makes for incredible reading. Figure 8 on page 9 references markets totalling over 18 billion dollars for diagnostics that are in development or ready for licensing. That’s not including the Covid diagnostic by the way

Hilarious deramping attempt, who cares about the last 5 months? They’ve stated they have plenty cash. I’m more interested in the next 5 months, certainly 5 weeks and who knows, maybe within 5 days we’ll get more news...

Worth noting 95% would be a stunning level of accuracy compared with the current testing that’s out there. I’m hoping for a nice round 100%, but 95% is a lot better than people trying to shove swabs up their nostrils, failing to do it properly and then waiting several days for a false negative. Just a thought if we’re considering which prospect is the better one...

Few things stood out... saliva is a better source and a lower chance of a false negative, plus the 99 dollar cost. Imagine a cheaper, more convenient home based test...

A quick google shows that PCR testing can have a high false negative rate due to how the samples are obtained. I watched a programme on channel4 where someone who was working at a testing site was interviewed. His day job was working in an opticians and he said everyone from his shop was working there. Laudable yes, but also likely not to get a decent swab for testing compared with a medical professional. It’s a lot easier spitting on a stick...

SAG HARBOR, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — There was a Herculean effort to ramp up nasal swab testing for coronavirus, but now the saliva test could pave the way to widespread testing.

Linda and Jonathan Kamen, hunkered down in Sag Harbor, didn’t need a test to tell them they probably were infected with COVID-19 in mid-March.

“I started getting chills, extreme chills,” said Linda Kamen in an interview with CBS2’s Carolyn Gusoff.

The closest testing site, however, was an hour away.

“I could not have gone to have that, I was too sick,” Linda Kamen said.

“She couldn’t get out of bed for two weeks,” Dr. Jonathan Kamen Said.

Their doctor ordered a home saliva test for both of them.

“I did the application on Monday, did the test on Tuesday, Wednesday evening I had the results. We were both positive,” said Jonathan Kamen.

The $99 test was developed by MicroGenDX, a lab based in Orlando, Florida. The test was the first to provide the speedier and simpler form of COVID-19 testing.

“We were one of the first, I believe, to be touting the fact that saliva or sputum is a better source,” said MicroGenDX’s Director of Sales Ken Perry. “It’s easier to obtain, less invasive, and we also believe it will have a lower chance of coming back as a false negative.”

MicroGenDX is now working around the clock to ramp up production for states and municipalities, as are labs around the country.

The beeb also has another couple of articles that cry out for Avacta and their saliva test. There’s an article about testing and that the biggest challenge in contact tracing is yet to come. There’s another talking about taking temperatures to allow people on public transport. Both of these challenges could be solved by a 10 min saliva test...

Did you notice on the 22nd April that Alistair said he was looking forward to announcing other commercial partnerships? Plural.

If a 95pc accurate blood test requiring PCR equipment is being described as a game changer, I'm not sure there are enough superlatives for an equally or more accurate 10 min POC saliva test...

Absolutely agree with you CS, today’s news is huge in its own right. Given the higher throughput of this technology we’ve the potential to grab a very large share of the PCR testing market. There is a clamour for antigen testing. I’m sure in a clinical setting it’s very useful to know if you have Covid-19 right now, as well as if you have antibodies and your body is responding. Not to mention, POC news that is on its way and the monumental market, regular testing, testing to attend events/ travel, testing if have symptoms...
