I wouldn’t be surprised if the govt wanted enough tests to declare a national test day to do exactly as suggested. Test the entire nation in a day, the ultimate test, track and trace.

Perfect, that’s what I thought, so we’ll need everyone on the planet (symptomatic or not) to test regularly. That’s an awful lot of tests at a circa $5 healthy margin. Best get a few more global pharmaceutical companies signed up...

I’ll keep asking my noddy question... as far as I can see, technical arguments to one side, if there’s enough of it we’ll find it. Isn’t that all we need to know? As said, no test on the planet will detect a single particle.

I think I’m comfortably sat invested in the most promising test on the planet. Sir Al says it works, all we need is formal confirmation and the orders to start rolling in with existing and other partners.

Is a false negative meaningful, if you’ve not enough of the virus to be detected then would you not be contagious?

Is those pesky contagious asymptomatic people that will cause an issue. At some point surely everyone in the country needs to be tested and tested regularly for tracing to be in any way effective

Is it fair to say the point at which the test will be able to detect the virus will coincide with the point the host becomes contagious? After all, there’s got to be enough of it for someone to be contagious, therefore there’ll be enough to be detected? I’d imagine earlier, all good for front line workers who I’d expect to test daily and all for good for the population as it would be detected early enough to stop the spread.
