Stunning find Tom, makes for a great read. OraSure are hoping to have a test by September. When in the summer is that? ;-)

They note they haven’t got the manufacturing capability, suggesting a billion tests per year will be needed and they’ll only be able to scale manufacturing by 2021. They’re aiming for specificity in the high 90s.

Compare and contrast - we’re aiming for ASAP in the summer, we’ve got one pharma monster signed up for manufacturing with more to come and Alistair is extremely confident in the specificity of the affimer platform. Incredible.

Slide 24, 7th bullet point in the presentation.. No mention of early, mid, end, solstice, just asap.

Where’s the reference to mid summer? Wasn’t it by summer or during summer and certainly ASAP. My best guess would be some time in June

This is where we’ll be. There are 2 scenarios:

1). No antigen testing, no one will have a clue who has it, the govt will still be extremely cautious and you’ll still be in your house, staying at home, protecting the NHS and saving lives
2) Antigen testing is available. It will be possible to properly test, track and trace cases and start to resume normality. Avacta will be worth a billion or so and we’ll all be significantly wealthier

Coincidentally I’m desperately trying to move some funds to buy more of these life changing (literally) beauties. I’m concerned the price will double very shortly.

They appear to be behind Avacta and the tech looks clunky to say the least.

Good link though wintzy, it mentions a 100% success rate for them, so there doesn’t seem to be a reason Avacta wouldn’t have the same success and given the proven ability to manufacture a working test strip we should be world leading.

Here’s a thought, Avacta is separated in to divisions, what about a Danaher takeover of the diagnostics division leaving Avacta with the jewel in the crown with their therapeutics division?

Got to admit I laughed when I saw the handy home kit on page 14, but to be fair the last page has something slightly more user friendly. I’d suggest they’re behind in their development given Avacta have successfully done this before with zika

No, he said the costs were around 2 dollars. The expected price would be 30 to individuals and about half that to corporations. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of a third cheaper price to govt for the front line. He did note that those are the kind of margins we're talking about i.e. huge - I'd imagine some political pressure to reduce them, but as someone on here said, 15 dollars equates to about 12 quid which on the cost of a flight where antigen testing may be mandatory would be worth paying.

Agreed, the Avacta tests are desperately needed. Your paramedic friend could have been asymptomatic for several days before the 29th. Had Avacta’s test been available your paramedic friend could have been testing herself daily before heading out for work and avoided any risk of inadvertently spreading it.

It just so happens the affimers are ‘highly specific’. At some stage Avacta will be dominating the testing market, all 100s of millions, at a very healthy margin
