Add in we can’t even be convinced of the stage this particular competition is at. They’ve trialled a version in the past, they’ve not mentioned clinical validation in their news - they did with their antibody test. As someone noted, it’s likely to be privately funded by Heathrow and Condor are helping out as part of their programme - as it’s what they do.

Compare and contrast. We’re in the final stages - clinical validation and procurement, the part where the chequebook comes out. I’ll be sorely disappointed if I don’t see Sir Al stood outside the Wetherby Whaler with a massive cheque signed by Matt Handjob.

The thrill of finding out we’re working with Condor (Knew that)

The excitement of knowing our test is being actively tested right now (Yup)

The despair of imagining that there might be some competition (No sh.t)

The realisation that they’re only testing for practicality (Whatevs)

The knowledge that we’re being clinically validated, have strong reasons to believe we have a high performing test and that we can’t possibly meet a fraction of the unbelievably huge global demand. Mass screening alone will be way beyond our means. Let the others take up the slack elsewhere. Back to the mundane waiting....

A level head PAH, nice to see. You’re right about the proof of concept. I read it that the trial is about usability and the practicality. It’s about comparing the different test types in action. I’m not even bothered if Matt Handjob gets his chequebook out. I don’t see it being a market for us as new tech, such as the 20 second test or a breathalyser (cough, Skin), will be used. Given Orasure aren’tsosure anymore, without affimers, I’d be surprised - but very impressed admittedly- if another test gets near to the performance Sir Al was alluding to.

Hardly consistent, so, no idea where they’re at, they’ve trialled before. Who know how good it is without affimers. I can’t imagine anything but the best being used.

Just keep remembering Trump spending $750m on 150m tests which is enough to test less than half the US population once. There’s plenty to go around.

I’ve had a thought. Amazing I know. I know it’s not about the LFD and that’s more exciting, but BAMS news might be next.

Given Sir Al said that he expects BAMS to be the new gold standard... that means it’s better than PCR. How do you validate it? Ordinarily you use PCR as the comparator. We could be picking up cases than PCR hasn’t, if they’re asymptomatic, how can you prove that it’s not a false positive? Could this added complication of having the best test on the planet be making validation take longer?

“We detected SARS-CoV-2 RNA in saliva specimens obtained from 13 persons who did not report any symptoms at or before the time of sample collection. Of these 13 health care workers, 9 had collected matched nasopharyngeal swab specimens by themselves on the same day, and 7 of these specimens tested negative (Fig. S2). The diagnosis in the 13 health care workers with positive saliva specimens was later confirmed in diagnostic testing of additional nasopharyngeal samples by a CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988)–certified laboratory.”

That’s a perfect demonstration of why Awacta are THE game changer. The ability to detect the asymptomatic. The ability to outperform swabbing - people simply can’t do this properly themselves. That’s why the FDA won’t authorise any swab test for home use. That’s why Awacta are in prime position to be the most in demand test on the planet. A saliva based LFD is what the world has been waiting for, you simply can’t mass screen the population with anything else.

So they’ve taken profits, think the tests aren’t priced in at all and they’re clearly still holding some / stopped selling as they fancy more profit. Nice.
