The answer is regular LFD testing. Daily and everyone. Tragically it’ll never happen, but having a 100% sensitive test that’s freely available for twice a week will be a good start

What happened to the Israel breath test that was amazeballs and gave incredible results in seconds? There have been quite a few of these game changers that don’t get near commercialisation and wide spread use. The tend to be good at generating short term publicity but not much else

Come on, have you lot learnt nothing? PresAl’s ability to warp space/time means that immediately could mean anything from the end of last summer through to the coming days. As part of my traditional expectation setting, I’d expect a short, but beautifully sweet RNS purely saying the test is CE marked, MHRA stamped and launched. Nothing more, nothing less*

*unless it’s like transfer deadline day. In that case, PresAl will be working his quill and fax machine overtime

I remain sceptical but hopeful when it comes to that lot. We’ve previously heard they were investing, hopefully that’s true and they stole a march on getting a boatload of Ginolis in place.

Several countries are dishing out exemptions so home use is a bit of a red herring. However, if yesterday's Medusa stalking is the beginning of getting that tick in the box and it's not too much more effort / cost then why not? If it helps give other countries more confidence in buying for that use case then great. If the MHRA are suggesting months and months of trials and tribulations then I'd agree, by the time it was approved it might not be worth it. Common sense.

It's true though, if it doesn't work due to people enjoying their traditional delicious pile of breakfast burgers then you're left with a metal tube full of Covid. You've also got people travelling to get tested, so it's the age old problem whereby you're mixing with a lot of people before you get to the gate - always true in airports of course. Personally, I'd rather have a 100% sensitive LFD taken at home. No harm in a belt and braces approach though and it looks promising.

If anything, it sounds more alike in concept to DVRG's breath test i.e. using disposable cartridges than the shoebox test that'll never make it to market.

They're a contract manufacturer so it won't be their test to sell. They'll not CE mark it - it's the same test, they'll just need to demonstrate equivalence.

They have their original capacity and I'd imagine a proportion of this is part of the lower end of the suggested 5-30m. For a long time, whatever capacity is available will be taken up by the govt and others wherever possible

I’ve shared a link that tells you exactly what sampling method has been declared when CE marking. There’s no argument to be had, but shock of shocks NDN finds one. What a surprise.

Anyway, I’m still not on 100 recs yet, let’s focus on what is important here.

Yes, it’s the Healgen test. It’s a nasal sample, instructions are shove it up until there’s resistance. It was given approval for home use in Germany, but that’s not a CE mark for self use.

Not AN then...

I can’t find any CE marked self-use tests. Austria, Germany and the U.K. are the only ones rattling on with whatever they fancy. Given we’re now officially the best AN test on the planet, it’d be quite something to also be the only self use test

The last time I posted about the competition I got over 100 recs. just sayin’... don’t feel pressured... them were the days, I was all pleased that there were no other saliva tests. Aaaah memories...

What do you reckon? There’s only one other anterior nasal swab antigen test that’s been CE marked. One. Even then it mentions NP. There are a lot of ‘nasal swab’ ones, that handy vague term, but just the one AN.
