Oldblue: you say the Ranking was rejected, do you have any evidence to back up that statement, you throw in these unsubstantiated statements often.
You seem to forget that the demonstration to Volvo was a modelling exercise, any hypothetical engine could have been modelled. The point is the only physical Sterling engine In-spirit have is the tarted up Disenco legacy engine. The efficiency of the Disenco was supposedly increased to provide 6.4 kW output.
As of today all Investors are awaiting the Design for Manufacture version of this engine and according to In-Spirit that won't be manufactured until 2022.
The Stirling technology they have in a shape or form is 6.4 kW absolute fact.
You can hope they are developing something bigger and better but I'd prefer to bet my money on facts and evidence rather than desperate hope.
To improve a D13 500 HP by 20% requires a 100 HP Stirling, fact! That is a huge step up in output power and would require a complete redesign from the bottom up. A lot of testing and research and of course how heavy will the engine be to deliver this output. Of course the cost to do this will be massive. How much has passed through John Gunn's hands to commercialise an already existing device, it has been several millions. Modelling a bigger Stirling is one thing building a working prototype is a whole new ball game.
In virtually all research I have looked at it is generally accepted that the Rankine cycle device provides the best efficiency improvement for its simplicity and weight.
Why are all In-spirit's RNS vague, factless and open to interpretation ? Not a confidence inspiring company, particularly when none of the RNS have delivered over the last 5 or 6 years.
