I recall the highest Mkt Cap for PFG was 4B tops so given the RI that equates to approx 1750p. Given the company has reduced significantly in some areas then even this is unobtainable unless something of a game-changer happens

Uncertainty currently kills the upside - debt levels and margins are finely balanced and difficult for us to estimate with much accuracy. The report next week *may* resolve some of these. PFG was the same until they reported smaller FSA fines and a smaller rights issue(on the same day) than what was priced in and that went up 70%+ on the day.

I would hope DW believes running a business well will drive the SP indirectly. Focusing directly on the SP only leads to short term decisions - similar to our political system with elections every 5 years and no one wants to take tough decisions that extend beyond that time period!

Expanding out into a number of new markets shows how the fixed fee model can be applied to many regions, only made possible by online technology. If the first such market is now turning a profit then demonstrating it elsewhere will lead to a geographically dispersed business with healthy and reliable profits ahead.

They’ll keep us waiting till early August for an update? When half year results come out - can’t duck that one. In the past a divi was paid between agm and half year results which gave an opportunity then.

PFG had a fine and RI hanging over it for months, the media went to town on the scaremongering, and the SP tanked until the smaller than expected RI and fine was announced causing a 70+% day rise - that was a memorable day! So unknown fines seem to overly suppress the SP makes sense but worth bearing in mind when reading subjective news articles that are more for clicks.

Given the DAX and CAC are both down 1% on German govt woes I’m not expecting any upside this week at least - if Merkel were to go that would depress all markets till the dust settles. Best to have some cash to fall back on and sit it out as the SP looks good at this price and I’ll stay long.

Anyone know of another share that voted to reduce their nominal share price? Be interesting to see what they did in the year afterwards.

Interesting data in the article. Cracking the US would be huge - it’s obviously a big market and on PBs side is the fact both buyers and sellers pay the EAs a fee (worse than here!) so more margin to be saved switching to PB. A few high ticket sales would be great - can Kanye sell one of his mansions via PB?!

the PIs need a few shocks to the SP, if all the info was out there then little risk would be left and the SP priced efficiently. I’m surprised how Jes Staley gets fined by the FCA and remains in post but the share price is not overly affected, unlike IRV this morning! As someone already said, this conduct for IRV is in the past for the current BOD, but Barclays certainly isn’t.

I agree. One frustrating aspect for LEAs is IMO PB will cream off the easier to sell houses and more committed sellers - they will pay the fee as they are either needing to more or have a property that will sell more easily than most. A difficult property or a seller testing the market would do this via an LEA as they have to pay only when sold. The business models naturally do this.

Still amazed that someone as seemingly savvy as Sarah Beeny called the company tepilo - you’ve got to spend money telling people what they do! Rightmove does that for free with Purplebricks being a fair name as well.

That�s a good question! Volumes are certainly decreasing and the spread between asking price and price paid is widening, so those moving are the ones that can afford it which is a shrinking pool. Proping this up in my area of east London are buy-to-let�s that buy houses to carve up with more bedrooms so justifying a higher purchase price than a family would have considered. To a lesser extent houses bought via companies pay lower stamp duty so saving over 10000+ And getting round the tax on interest that�s being phased in. Finally, foreign money of varying degrees of legitimacy using property to park their cash in a country with very strong property laws and also in some cases to legitimise it.

Will Trump back off after going in hard? As seems his approach on most things - providing a chance to buy (anything!) whilst markets are suppressed by this - until the next bout of posturing. I’m going back in soon for sure but with less capital and medium term time scale.

In my experience EAs are focused on volume, not squeezing out an extra few thousand on the price for their client - what’s 2% of that?! The EA is contracted by the seller so won’t be interested in getting details of changes next door - unless it’s good for the property being sold, then you’ll hear all about it. If it’s your money/home on the line do your upmost to take care of it - no one else will care for it like you do.
