Trump took credit for the index rises so it figures he has to take credit for the downturns too, hence a politised fed. Not great for the small guys that’s for sure.

Haven’t we been here before? Oil comes tumbling down, news reports about the death of oil etc and then we’re back at $75 for Brent, thinking how did that happen?! Oil gives the biggest amount of energy/cost ratio esp in less developed countries whose economies are ramping up and not stopping to integrate climate concerns at anything like the same rate.

Whilst agreeing with you a lot I think you’re overly optimistic with your timetable - if they have dragged it out this long they can keep doing so! I think May just wants to stay in no 10/chequers whilst the Christmas decorations are up then accept the inevitable in January. Not convinced the oil price will be greatly affected by Brexit but us/China woes could, that’s the risk which I’m willing to take as holding long term is an option for me. Holding some percentage of cash is also very wise - the amount being determined by individual opinion.

When a number of newspapers over the last 2 weeks are all reporting such bad news and info from the BOD is in short supply then we need to assume the worst - if the company continues to trade then the rescue required will substantially dilute existing holders. No other way forward as I see it.

Trump isn’t low IQ, anyone who can take on all the republican contenders at their own game and then beat a very experienced democrat speaks for itself. I wouldn’t want him to sit a maths test for me, his intelligence is in appealing to and persuading people. He learns quickly and has no shame in trying a new tactic and changing if it doesn’t work - career politicians couldn’t compete with that. Very interesting to watch as I recall!

Trump always goes in hard and then sees what the reaction is and compromises offered - it’s almost like he understands how to negotiate. Obviously as time goes on the opposing side gets a feel for this.

That’s certainly something that occurred to me too - shifting into companies with appreciable foreign income but traded on the FTSE so profit booked in Stirling. I think the dec 11 vote on the withdrawal agreement will fail so weakening the pound but am seeing cabinet members suddenly coming out in favour so May is certainly exerting as much pressure as she can - still, DUP and Labour unlikely to go for it.
