You cannot blame these guys for taking their share options, even if the timing looks favourable. They had the balls and belief to accept shares in lieu of salary, performed a tricky task with great credit - and like all of us they need cash to pay the bills, so fair play to them. Thanks for progress report on the steadily cruising rig GG - keep the technical expertise coming please!

trellis - its great to witness your "Road to Damascus" moment, when the scales have finally dropped from your eyes now that you are confronted with the reality of last week's dramatic progress. lignum is only a rare poster on this board, and a man of few words, but they are telling ones - and I am pleased to see him re-emphasise my post underlining the importance of the personal influence of the substantial investor. Its really a question of holding the faith during the dark days when I continued to top up and gathered as much of the 10p offer as allowed. No point in hindsight or recriminations now - but there was an awful lot of negativity and doubting espoused by yourself and a few others which does tend to put off newcomers to the board. I can imagine the reaction of the investor in question if this BOD had leaked any information to the market of ongoing negotiation. However, you seem unfazed enough to signpost the way ahead with further warnings of potential pitfalls. I have a fairly clear picture of likely progress now, and prefer to leave the steering to a BOD who have just proved their competence to all shades of investor opinion.

Good post bandit - and well observed comments ref: LO. I also think that the levelling down during today's reaction to a great RNS is something to do with the MMs and the old mates rates syndrome. As with two blank squares in the IOG map neatly filled within a week, what is not to like? - especially given the identity of the farm-out backers, and the priceless influence they can exercise as we move forward.

if the 3 moaneteers have finally realised that negotiations within a company on crucial issues are by necessity conducted in confidence? Now we know the nature and personalities involved in the funding, it is no real surprise that a running commentary on progress was never going to happen. Full marks to the BOD for keeping their cool and producing great end results for ALL Shareholders - especially those who kept the faith.

Thanks for intervening with the voice of reason - as usual - but it appears that you will never win with those who feel that every nuance of conducting business within a company has to be exposed for some universal approval of method. Having run a business for over 30 years where a degree of confidential business dealing and entrepreneurism was required, perhaps that lends greater understanding to allowing those with their hands on the levers to get on with the job without constant reference. As the BOD have now settled one essential aspect of the core project, I look forward to the release - at the appropriate time - of further positive news on Harvey and Funding.

Bacton was never an issue for me - purely a matter of negotiation with deal-friendly partners, as it has proved. So much for 600's lengthy sermon on the subject!

Not sure what all this fuss regarding Bacton is all about. "we don't own anything at Bacton" - nor will we as it is 100% owned by Shell and consortium. All we need is access to the facility, as with other southern North Sea gas producers who pass gas product through the facility and onshore down the pipeline at a normal facility fee to the owners. Just wish that some of the original O & G technocrats would post their observations on here rather than a series of repetitive hatchet jobs on the BOD.

Looking at the Bacton website, the facility is actually owned by Shell who spent £300m on a refurbishment programme some 20 years ago. Presumably access to the facility would be payable by fee on a volume basis?

at present, and a number of recently reported sells are in fact buys. Just topped up 23500 @ 14.29 and will be reported in red no doubt. Next news will be the first point of correction either way.

rxdav: I would have no problem either way - as long as they kept to the facts. In this case, as you well know. a serious allegation has been made without supportive evidence - and I am surprised that an investor in this company sees fit to repeat the calumny with scant regard to the effect.

rxdav: I think you can add "conspiracy theorist" to sceptic now owing to your misinterpretation of a simple progress report in the recent RNS. We were being told on here how vital the news on Harvey would become - now apparently it doesn't matter much anymore? Also - to repeat on here as if it were gospel the scurrilous statement from Oilman Jim that "the challenge here is what appears to be a chain of fraudulent financial backers" is less than helpful. What evidence does OJ have that our current backers are fraudulent? I will leave considerations of libel to those "backers" with their more considerable war chests - meanwhile it is not too difficult to finger the reason for today's spate of sells and subsequent drop in SP on what would normally have been a quiet Monday trading.

You guys just go on questioning this BOD whilst they are obviously in the process of sorting out all the relevant issues that are pinpointed. I pity your boiler man when he comes in to sort out a failed unit! The BOD know just as well that these are the key target points for concentrated action and the recent RNS was simply an assurance that work is underway and ongoing. Harvey now has a more definite timetable for volume analysis etc. - and Bacton and the pipeline are like Love and Marriage - you can't have one without the other! I think the BOD are aware of this simple equation - and I also believe that the farm-out and funding process must be well advanced if the trading volumes of recent weeks are a signpost.

Must be a private transaction dave, ( but certainly NOT a gambling investor!) as it has had no effect whatsoever on the SP.

I cannot see too much wrong with the issuing of a progress report on the 3 key areas of activity at this stage. Firstly, the target of late July for the arrival of the Maersk rig to commence drilling work on Harvey is confirmed - and the O & G experts on here will have something interesting to say to us non-techs on here? Secondly, intensive work on the farm-out and funding arrangements are reported to to have " progressed substantially" adding Hockey's comment to expect "progress to F.I.D. this summer". Thirdly, the confirmation that documentation on the acquisition of the Bacton reception facility is progressing is welcome. Anyone who has been involved in the comparitively simple process of land purchase or sale will be unsurprised at the complications presented here - albeit caused by an oversight in the early days which are hardly the fault of the current BOD. Some will string out their doubts until all the factors become faits accomplis, but I prefer to remain positive and to cut some slack for this management team whilst they continue to advance the core project.

But that cannot go on indefinitely dinny, or we just continue to slide. We need some confidence boosting news to encourage fresh investment.
