Worst case scenario is major crap happens in the Middle East tonight and despite amazing results the SP barely moves. Best case scenario is Amazing results with no Middle East interference and Tufan also announceing divis and a deal to re-enter narrow body (this is surely coming sooner rather than later with Boeing opening the door and airbus keen to partner with RR) - if all that happens you could be looking at 550 / 600. "Just" good results should bump it to 480 / 490.

So we've completed the process for Step 2 and are awaiting an assessment from the regulators??

"If" Thursday shows RR is on track to meet Tufan's goals (which were by no means easy goals to achieve) I would expect an uplift. "If" RR shows it is smashing the targets set by Tufan we could be on for a significant rise. "If" Tufan throws divi's into the mix we should see a Spectacular rise and "if" Tufan throws in a curveball (SMR win in Europe / announcment of a narrow body partnership with Airbus) we should be in for a gargantuan win. Thursday will undoubtedly show significant progress - I suppose it depends on how much progress the market is already expecting. For some reason the market is somewhat underwhelmed with RR at the moment - I'm hopeful that RR will turn some heads on Thursday....

Divi's would be nice simply to attract the institutional investors. They aren't the be all and end all but will certainly give RR a very quick and mighty boost. Yes, it's always awkward to take them away once they're in place and yes, it would be amazing for RR to wait until it is debt free and making 15% margins before re-instating them..... however it would also be nice to see the SP increase by 30 or 40 p on the back of a divi announcement. Thankfully RR have a very experienced bean counter at the helm so I trust Tufan will know when the time is right..... On a slightly different note someone pointed out to me that Tufan tends to stick around for 3 or 4 years before moving on (he's definitely not a one company man...)- His personal incentive (based on the fact that much of his renumeration is in the form of shares) could be to increase the SP in the short (ish) term. I'm not suggesting he's an MGB however if a large portion of your package is dependant on the SP you would think advocating policies to increase the SP would be up there on your "to do today" list....

I think it would be positively rude not to place a "buy" on IG Wednesday afternoon in anticipation of a monumental surge on Thursday (obviously with a STOP..... just in case :-)).

Whether the dividend is large or "tiny" it will be the final box that needs to be ticked for some institutional investors - Many large institutional investors simply can't buy shares unless they pay a dividend - I'm sure there will be further subset that only allows shares to be bought when the dividend is above X% - however the simple existance of a dividend is good enough to draw in a large number of additional investors. Hopefully Thursdays news will show us that RR can afford to pay a dividend.... :-)

I can't see Thursday being anything but a positivity fest for RR - the only thing that could pi55 on RR's chips is if some world event screws things up - The last couple of months have been a bit weird but shares don't always behave how you'd expect - Maybe 488 was just too much too soon - I still see RR being a £7+ share in the near future - barring massive negative world events - we still have dividends, buybacks, narrow body, SMR, increased flying hours, increased margin, less (no??) debt - What's not to like???

I hope you come back stronger than ever. £7 come Feb still looking good despite the recent ups and downs - I'm hopeful the August results will get us back on course but who really knows......

I find the target price somewhat underwhelming....Granted that Svends amalgamated target price includes some targets which were issued months ago (and will also include Berenberg's (frankly embarrassing) target of 240...) - When is someone going to show some cahones and set a target price of £6.50 + ???

If the pictures on all the news sites are anything to go by I can't vote - it appears you have to have a dog in tow to approach a voting station. I'm now considering whether I chance taking my feline buddy Muffin for a walk.... surely a pet (and not necessarily a dog) will do???

Too "safe" for me. I think the financials in August are going to shock a few people (in a good way). Airmiles up, debt down, margins increasing, some big orders on the horizon (Emirates??), still not totally convinced we've had the announcement regarding the "very important deal" which is "signed" but hasn't been announced yet - unless this was the manufacturing facility in Turkey thing?? IMHO only a black swan event can stop RR's progress at the moment... any re-rate which isn't getting close to £6 is, in my opinion, a cop out...

If this is their prediction of where RR will be in 12 months 495 is a bit lightweight in the grand scheme of things. I wish one of these guys would go all out and say £6.40 / £6.50 or even the mythical £7......

It's a weird election. The outcome is, apparently, pretty much already decided. Hearing the slimesack Cameron urging people not to vote Labour as giving Labour a landslide was a dangerous thing (but fine for the conservatives when they get a landslide??) was the last straw for me. I'm very "unengaged" with the election. I'm pretty certain a Labour victory will cost me however I think they'll plough money into the NHS / police / housing.... which can't be a bad thing. Spoiling a vote might be the answer.... Not sure my artwork is up to scratch... maybe just a few words for the vote counter to read... or perhaps a funny one liner to help them get through the night :-)

Thanks for taking over the spreadsheet duties Trello!!! :-) If I want to be close I should really wait and see what Svend puts and base my answer on that - However my gut feeling is 574 by COP on August 01st - I think we'll see a 3 or 4 % jump on the day on the back of very strong figures.

Unfortunately it is almost a tradition that Presidents run for a second term. There is a certain amount of reverance around it. As an aside my neighbour met President Biden last week for a business meeting and said he was a very impressive man with immense presence. I follow us politics closely and can't bring myself to watch any footage from last night. I'm hoping President Biden can repair things in the second debate but fear the damage has been done. In the run up to the debate the Republicans were suggesting he took performance enhancing drugs and were asking him to take a drugs test (on the back of an amazing performance in the State of the Union speech). I think Biden will still prevail in November but he's certainly not making it the slam dunk it should be. The US political system is ffed up (as is their criminal system and come to think of it the Supreme Court). I realise there may be some Trump supporters on this board. I'm afraid I won't/ can't argue the toss with you.... I've found trying to talk sense to MAGAs is just too exhausting. Rant over.

His maga marks have been propping DJT up since it launched. I don't really understand the economic ins and outs of shorting but apparently its "expensive" to short the stock. Its the most ridiculous overvalued meme stock ever. I think last year it's turnover was C$1m and losses were 2 or 3 hundred million dollars.....

Just had a look (expecting it to have rocketed after Biden's performance last night). It's gone down C2%. Am I missing something?

Whilst it's a bit galling to see the SP get battered by the markets seemingly through no fault of its own it's worth gaining some persepective on the current drop. We only reached 452 for the first time at the very end of May (28th) and didn't close above 452 until a few days later. Since then the share has meandered in the 450's and 460's before an equally unexpected surge last Thursday pushed it into the 480's for a bit.... Assuming this is an over-reaction to some slightly negative Airbus news I can't see the SP stalling for too long. Happy Tuesday people.

Maybe A r s e n a l 's doom mongering prediction about faulty turrbine blades is about to hit the fan..... Personally I doubt it. However he (and his wife) are supposedly in the know...
