Indeed NTC. They're not exactly having to re-invent the wheel. They will have masses of old designs and data to draw upon during their design phase. I can't believe they aren't actively working on a Narrow Body Engine already - although A****al is adamant there won't be any updates in the near term - and a****al works there so he should know. Same with SMR - despite all this activity in Europe there won't be any announcements in the near term there either - as A****al says there won't be. Maybe the guy at RR SMR was feeding me disinformation?? or alternative facts??

Exactly my point Farnnorth... I wasn't suggesting for a second that SMR's are about to be built or A Narrow Body Engine is about to go into production.... HOWEVER - announcements about progress being made in either / milestones being achieved are surely going to affect the SP (which I believe this thread was originally talking about). "If" RR were to announce anything positive about Narrow body it would surely significantly affect the SP. Likewise if RR get one stage further in the Czech / Polish / Swedish SMR deals - again the SP will surely be bumped up....

Anyway these are just my thoughts.

totally agree - which is why i'm hoping this has been worked on for quite some time - i'm sure tufan would have been informed of the rr engineers decision to tell airbus it would take 10 years to develop a new engine.... any sane individual would have immediately set up a project to look at narrow body engines as soon as they heard this..... which means we should be almost 2 years down the line of design / development. taking into account the 10 year estimate from rr engineers was almost a "**** off we're busy" estimate and the real timescales are more like 5 years.... rr are almost halfway there - or not.

thanks ****nal. you may not have read my post correctly? i suggested there could be news about narrow body. i went further and suggested tufan could have tasked people to start developing / scoping out a new narrow body engine when he joined the company (beginning of 2023) (given the fact he's quite wise and had probably picked up on he fact the lack of narrow body engines was a major weakness to rr's total offering). i'm well aware it takes years to develop an engine (i was told by somebody better informed than me that rr engineers gave a 10 year estimate to airbus when approached about a jv before tufan joined). i certainnly wouldn't expect rr to start knocking out narrow body engines next week but i would not be surprised if there was an announcement about a jv with airbus along with an expected production date. i will however bow to your supeior knowledge on thhe mtter... i was merely putting 2 and 2 together and speculating.

i will of-course bow to your supeior knowledge on where rr is with regards to it's potential european smr deals - the last time i spoke to someone at rr smr i was under the impression the european deals were going exceptionally well - i misadvertantly jumped to the conclusion this may lead to some positive news in the short term.

The City types coming back from their yachts will be happening soon. Large orders coud happen at any time (I'm under the impression the "time on the wing in sandy conditions" issue is all but solved). SMR announcements could happen at anytime (remember RR has bid for a number of European contracts (Czech Republic / Poland / Sweden are the ones I can remember)). Narrow body announcement could be anytime (I suspect RR engineers have been working on a narrow body engine from virtually the time Tufan came into post - and probably before that). Admittedly dividend and results will have to wait until February 2025. So.... still quite a bit "in play".

Hopefully it's just in a holding pattern until all those important people in suits come back from their yachts...... Would be nice to seee it kick on. Remember though we still have.....:

- SMR announcements

- Narrow Body announcements

- Large orders from Emirates etc

- Confirmation / rattification of Dividend

- Results in Feb which should hopefully show no remaining debt, increased margins, bumper profits

I just don't understand the hate. Differences of opinion are fine (and normal) but why does it have to get so personal? What really confuses me are people who target people who are being optimistic about the SP. Surely everyone on this board wants RR to do well?? One of the most prominent proponents of RR is of course the boards very own cat Nettles... Whilst some may wish not to believe the reality forming before their very own eyes and argue £7 is ludicrous (instead clinging to an opposing statement they made 6 months or a year ago), the petty nastiness which often borders on hate is, quite frankly, pathetic. Other duels between board members are equally juvenile and can often be seen to be causing real unhappiness. As a father I have witnessed how bullies operate at school level. As an adult I have witnessed how some bullies never grow out of their antisocial, childish and destructive behaviour. I simply cannot fathom what saitisfaction someone gets from belittling fellow board members. My only advice is to block the offenders and ignore their pathetic, hate filled proclamations. Unfortuanely, engaging with them and politely asking them to stop (in my experience) doesn't work.... especially when they are delivering their filth from the safety of an untraceable online persona. Sad... but true.

Imagine throwing an SMR announcement into the works.... or maybe even an announcement about re-entering the narrow body market (we have the ideal partner (Airbus) and Boeing is on its knees). £7 by February (thanks for starting this religion NTC) starts to look a bit cheap .... LSE (above) has it down as 22nd which is indeed a Saturday - MarketScreener has a "projected" date of 19.02.2025 for Q4 Earnings. Perhaps it isn't yet set in stone. It will be in Feb 2025 though...

Maybe they needed the money?

There are a myriad of reasons why someone sells. I'm always happy for them. They've made their money and cashed in their profits. Putin could do something daft tomorrow sending the whole stock market into a tailspin, Covid 2 could be announced (a deadlier version requiring an even stricter response), Hezbollah could get their hands on a dirty bomb and send it to Israel. The world is a very uncertain place. Some people with conservative views to investing will be happy with a 3 or 4 hundred % return and want to bank their money. I fail to understand why this is such an issue for you??
