Many I'm sorry are wrong - there's no reinfection, no seconds wave (just places that avoided the first one) and the deaths are basically nil now in the UK - Deaths aren't publicized it's cases and even then they don't say how many positives in relation to tests - more people under 45 died from car accidents in a typical year than from covid. The economy might not recover but it won't be because of a virus, it will be because of our reaction to it.

What's the issue here, does the movie have a big twist, scared of cam releases spoiling it, surely getting it out while nothing else is open even if in limited theaters would ultimately lead to more money for this film not less.

I mean, **** games are kept under wraps until after launch so people don't cancel pre-orders/ask for refunds... who knows, maybe they think it needs to generate buzz, if it was groundbreaking people would travel to see it or wait!

Just been to a local snooker club, first time since they opened last week, some simple measures, hand wash station and such, otherwise busier than before Covid, full of 15-50 year olds all carrying on as normal, great to see!

1300-1600 people a day die in the UK - this thing is over, now we just have to waste billions on a vaccine for every man and his dog and then hopefully we can drop this charade and get on with living. The masks and air conditioning, plus cleaning routines should mean that cinemas are considered safe for those that are worried at least so that's good for them.

There was going to be a lot more 'Covid deaths' as people who had fought it off/never even been ill but had immunity then died of other causes (most likely being refused access to health care for screening and operations, this will eclipse all numbers Covid soon), but now that PHE have been found out for over counting (something that's been obvious since April) they will struggle to keep the lie alive

A virus so deadly they have to stick something up to the top of the nasal passage of thousands of perfectly healthy asymptomatic people to find any trace of it.

The infection will follow the exact same pattern as every other country, if you had less dead last few years (mild flu) more die now, worse seasons recently, then less now. It's all going to balance out, the UK is under average deaths per week now. If they started late by closing their border to China then they are just playing catch up - in fairness delay was a good strategy as the treatment protocols are more effective now and the virus will naturally move to a weaker strain.

The biggest problem is consumer confidence which the government in the UK have completely destroyed with the campaign of fear. Not sure how that went over there, think it's quite split between screaming for 'freedom' or 'safety' state by state. Starting later should allow them to absorb more facts, little was known at the beginning, sadly the media don't report or celebrate the good news, that;s it's not dangerous to the healthy working aged people. The letter in Forbes today signed by 600 Drs stating lockdowns are a 'Mass Casualty Incident' shows people are starting to speak up.

I think it'll plummet tomorrow unfortunately, few more weeks for the US to realize it'll blow over at the same rate as everywhere else, trouble there is the same as here, vested interest in dragging it out for as long as possible on one side, distorting the truth for political gain, here it's just for clicks and god knows what Han**** is cooking up in his rushed vaccine. How do you open the flap, if it's by touching the mask then that mask needs to go in the bin/wash.

The only thing that would stop me frequenting any businesses is being forced to inject, wear or be tracked something.
I'm 40 terrible health, asthma, and the ability to read actual evidence, praying for a return to liberty, passions, freedom and personal responsibility towards attitudes to risk.

The damage these measures have caused is untold, health, wealth, mental, physiological, psychological, educational, societal, future deaths and suffering needlessly, where does this madness end. Likely 80% of people are already cross-immune, the rest have already had it. The virus is smaller than a mask filter and it can get into peoples eyes too I'm afraid, time to invent under-bed cinema.

To be fair I'd have been in a cinema in March if it was open.

The US won't need a vaccine, whatever good they do for colds is debatable, in December, they will be similar to the UK, struggling to find cases to test against long before then.

Look at the dates the testing facilities were rolled into Leicester in the UK (currently under reimposed lockdown), a piece today in the Mail by Peter Hitchens, how can they possibly claim anything other than increased testing. In June 7 of the 8 testing sites were opened and they count the same person multiple times in their numbers.

It's maddening how long we have had to suffer such blatant false information from the government, too scared to admit the truth that the virus came and went without their efforts making any difference to it, gradually getting weaker as you would expect and the media driving their agenda, fear = clicks, and point scoring off the government, either ramping up or down depending on the side.

Viruses are spread by infected people, it produces symptoms to help the spread. If the host dies quickly it doesn't spread far, if the host is bed ridden, same result. This strain dies out. Mild cold like symptoms, spreads far and wide and the lesser the symptoms the more that strain spreads until it's ultimately so weak and so widely spread that it's nothing. This happens everytime, wash your hands, maintain some sensible distances and get on with your lives people!

Interesting investment lesson however, it doesn't matter if you are right when you invest, it matter what the heard thinks is right, or the policy makers who are led by said heard I guess.

On their 'Invest' product you don't pay anything, no fx, no dealing, no price charges - works for me.
Maybe they don't cover all the shares you might be looking at, doesn't seem to be a risk signing up and taking a look.

Maybe others can add more, I know they also offer CFDs and that's how they make their (some of their?) income.

212 gives you live prices as well, I suspect there's small differences between the platforms and also consider if you are looking at a buy or sell price.

So masks protect you from people coughing (well it sprays out the side instead of shooting forward), but if you have symptoms then why aren't you at home?

As for breathing, the mask does nothing to help anyone else (likened to trying to stop a mosquito with a chain link fence when talking virus particle sizes) and just collects virus and bacteria next to your face witch you then fiddle with constantly and rub on any surface you can find?

I cannot get my head around the logic on this one. What happened to catch it, kill it, bin it, and wash your hands...

Thanks both, I hadn't considered the fund angle and that is easy to grasp once you know what you are comparing against!

I bought Legal and General off a tip from a fool article (yeah I know) after it was beaten down, pretty nice cost basis and (unlike Aviva which I'm very red on) was relieved to receive the dividend. I'm sure you could make a case for withholding last years profit if the future suddenly becomes fraught with danger, but I didn't like the bow to regulatory pressure from the others and has only strengthened the view of my holdings here.

This sounds a little like the implementation of the dividend irrelevance theory, which best I could see works in theory but not in reality (taxes and such), although I doubt you can argue with Terry's results so far.

I was trying to wrap my head around selling shares to withdraw as opposed to living off dividends, all being equal the payout and subsequent value drop to the company when paying dividends should match the growth of the same company that doesn't pay but reinvests. Surely you eventually run out of shares though?

I'm at £13.2, managed to buy my way out of the mistake I guess, that's a benefit of being small time, most of my investing was at £20-22 before the meltdown, got some at 9 and change. Good lesson there for later, bigger numbers and I won't be able to pull that trick with wages.

I was happy to top up and hold with the 'safety' of Shell and the large div, the % I guess should have been a warning, maybe one day it'll climb back but I'm skeptical of adding more, looking for growth rather than income more so now, lesson learned there too.

Feel like there may be better investments out there which I wouldn't have dared utter 6 months ago, looking forward to getting even but then I do keep buying high, averaging down on the drop (usually timed just after my buy obviously) and selling at evens, only to watch the thing go sky high, e.g. Apple in and out at 190 after many months, now look, I guess it's the time cost also though.
