I wouldn't be too concerned with buys or sells. People sell and buy for many reasons, you just have to ask yourself has anything changed fundamentally in the company?

There are people here that have been long from 7p , people that have been long from the mid to late 20s from years ago - both could have legitimate reasons to sell. There are many opportunities in the market right now and everyone is looking for that quick gain.

Imagine you've been holding AGY for years and it's been crawling it's way up bit by bit. Meanwhile your buddies down the pub are making 1000% returns in bitcoin or tech stocks or goodness knows what else. If these people now sell does it mean they see a fundamental shift in the company fortunes or do they simply see better opportunities elsewhere?

Personally, if I go back to the valuation when the SP was at 28p years ago I think it is so much better now and that is not reflected in the valuation. Perhaps AGY marketing should be doing a better job (or any job) at getting this across in the market.
Right now the company has more going for it than it has for years and I believe 2021 could be transformational. But I accept other shareholders may see better opportunities elsewhere.

I sent Martin an email to ask the question. I've received an out of office reply, he's back Monday - will let you know if there are any replies. I recently had an interesting discussion on this on the Fresnillo board - they've hedged 7% of the annual production using a collar structure though I'm not sure how many calls they sold for each put they purchased.

I reckon what we need now more than anything else is another discovery finally derisking the one shot pony current scenario.
Country risk is off the boil, for now, POG is up, and the hedging program is gone. With another, hopefully significant find, this could fly.

They would have to officially change their no hedging policy, but I reckon given the current disruption to volume production & the high aisc and uncertainty right now why not?
it's justified in my opinion.

Yes very valid points. I know CEY do not hedge, but given production distribution I would seriously encourage them to buy some puts on the forward curve with the rising gold price.
Analysts are starting to temper their inflation forecasts given slower recovery in the world economy so it very conceivable that should we fail to break through key resistance just above $1800 the traders with short positions won't be stopped out, the gold price is likely to retrace perhaps even to retest $1675. So why not buy a little temporary protection given the variables at play on Egypt for the next year or so?

Seems like a fantastic opportunity here and significantly derisked with Newmont & Agnicio involvement (ofc all dependent on the geology, which will be what it is) and at a market cap of just £38m it leaves significant upside potential regardless of the huge rally the SP has already benefitted from.

Compare it to about 8% yield at POLY, but I'm not willing to take on Russian country risk and FRES is my silver play and I think it's the better silver play. Like others here CEY is my equivalent in the gold play.

So against my technicals telling me 'not yet, not yet' I decided to load up yesterday.

It seems the physical demand is going through the roof, the 'out of stock' notification is appearing on more and more websites, China is eliminating cash driving the population to precious metals, etc. etc etc There are so many etc.'s

I don't know now much longer the COMEX manipulation can last with all these factors rapidly lining up. I think it'll take one headline highlighting an inability to deliver that'll finally blow this out of the range. it feels that this is coming sooner rather than later and for the sake of a few pennies it doesn't make sense to miss it, because you know you'll wake up one morning and you just won't be able to buy.

ALL THAT SAID, now I'm long watch the ruddy thing collapse!!!
