Deos - is that your target price?
Amran - I agree with your quite sensible opinion, unlike that of Mr. Drax .
I've bought quite a lot already - so why should I go away?
Probably take 2 years to get there.
Call - would you have avoided tax if you had put your shares into an ISA?
seen-it - I take a temporary loan for 6 weeks from my savings , equivalent to the divi, and repay it on 27 May. The interest on my savings is tiny - about 0.6% - so I loose about £5 which is more than covered by the rise in the sp and the next divi.
Hi Gavster,
Thanks for your reply - I understand your plan and you could well reach your buy-in price of under 305.
I use a slightly different method - I take the divi and use the money to buy more more shares at post-xd prices. With a sound share this does pay off after time.
Over some years I have built up a good holding of DLG and LGEN, held in an ISA account, and my dividend income from these 2 shares for the 2019/20 year was over £5000, giving me a return on capital of 6% +, which is not bad. I think that LGEN is an outstanding share and I am going to buy more when the divi is paid out.
gav - could you please explain the logic of selling before xd and then buying after xd? If you sell before xd you miss the div - 14.4p per share - and after xd the sp is likely to drop 14.4p - so what is the advantage? Would it not be better to take the div than wait to see how much the sp drops after xd - it could be less than the divi?
For LTHs of LGEN, it is undoubtedly a good idea to hold and keep holding taking the divi each year. But suppose you hold 1000 shares and a divi of 10p per share is declared whilst your holding is showing a profit of 15p per share. Would it also not be a good idea to sell your holding immediately before xd, taking the profit of 15p per share, and then re-investing the total proceeds back into LGEN at the lower post xd sp. This could be repeated at each dividend declaration when the holding is showing a profit greater than the divi.
I am thinking of trying this at the forthcoming dividend declaration but can anyone advise if are there any drawbacks to the scheme?
Does anyone know what this is about? Who has been buying Argo Blockchain and is this a ramp for this share?
