Precautions7 May 2020 06:00
I see a lot of people mentioning that cruises will start with additional precautions. I am VERY skeptical about this, at least this year... Social distancing is not possible on a cruise ship. Even the ships layed up in Southampton and in Miami, the majority of the ships have or have had Covid19 cases onboard. It has taken them weeks to get on top of it with 95% isolation of crew in cabins. Cornavirus spreads so easily and rapidly, we've seen this happen. If fit healthy, medically checked crew are getting sick, leaving ships occasionally in ambulances and unfortunately losing their lives which you see in the media. Imagine what carnage it will do to the "overfed, nearly dead and newly weds". I'm not saying crusing will not reopen ever, but until this pandemic has been successfully beaten by herd immunity, if that is a possibility, a vaccine or its natural decline. I'm afraid no amount of social distancing, health checks or PPE will stop an outbreak of immense proportions and devastation onboard a cruise ship. After all, cruise ship clients are predominantly the at risk sector on a lot of ships. In addition to this a lot of people's disposable income has also been severely affected.
The media fallout of the first cruise ship that has resumed service with a Covid outbreak taking place will be catastrophic.
Just wake up people and see that, services will not be resuming in any form for quite some time..
Just be realistic, that's all I'm saying and will carnival have enough dollars to see it through with over 100 ships, 10 brands and their employees to support... It is going to cost an absolute fortune every month... Resumption of service in July is a fairy tale and highly irresponsible.
