I moved from Fidelity to IG as I found the trading aspect woefully bad. The timelines for reinvestment and withdrawal of funds you speak of our industry standard. Fidelity took 3 months once to transfer shares as they messed up a CREST transaction where my portfolio was frozen, that really cost me and I took them to the financial ombudsman and won a settlement for losses. IG is a different ball game and their phone app is what I use most which is excellent. I have nothing good to say about Fidelity or their trading software unfortunately. For regular traders it's a no brainer, Fidelity just doesn't work for frequent use. My son's junior ISA is with HL and I find that also poor, however IG don't at this moment in time support junior ISAs so I have no alternative.

To be fair it's no more than the Suez and Panama charge.. but then again it's freedom of navigation and United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea states you have the right to innocent passage from A-B through a nations territorial waters (12 nautical miles). It's not all Iranian either, you have Oman and UAE there where you could in theory use the current inshore zones within their territorial limits and closer to shore. I remember when I transited there, we were very careful not to leave the traffic seperation scheme that is in force there. It is a very busy shipping area with cargo, military, fishing boats and smugglers. What a mess huh 🤦

Sparky the cat - I might be remembering wrong but I recall Amazon are pursuing it on their own and Bezos I'm sure is the kind of chap who would try it with his own systems. But like I said I seem to remember they have their own avenue but my memory might be tainted. I agree, would be a perfect customer given their data centres and data warehousing/mining infrastructure. I know they are in DGs at the moment which given price of diesel isn't ideal 😵‍💫

You have the right to innocent passage from A to B through a countries territorial waters through international law. UNCLOS. This is why you are not and cannot be charged.

Rumpel, I don't think that applies. He has to be the capital gain. If he chooses to declare it. But the tax man will I'm sure have noticed. The only thing you can do is reduce it by previous years DECLARED capital losses from previous self assessments.

During the last Iraq war, I was loading crude in Basra and I was a cadet with Shell. Trade goes on, no matter the circumstances. If they inflate prices, it's just an excuse. Plenty of oil out there, Iran has a lot don't get me wrong but the world can cope, and the western world doesn't care about the Iranian oil, or the restrictions / force it will impose on it's waters. They will keep on sailing. Whether they use it as an excuse to inflate the price is another thing.

Now IG agrees with it, that's a massive drop after close 🤬

Let us see what 14:30 brings as the US futures are quite negative. I'll be transparent in that I sold out fully yesterday. I have so far been saved from a 3% drop on what I sold at. I am looking forward to repurchasing, I do expect further drops but would like to be back in before February.

Tufan is a good CEO, no doubt from my side with regards to that. BUT Rolls Royce has been a COVID recovery stock, it has benefited from post COVID normalisation, as it undoubtedly had to. Many of us saw this and benefited well. Rolls SMR was created in 2015 and defense spending has been rising for a number of years. Just keep it in perspective. It's not all Tufans doing. He has however streamilined the business making it a lot more efficient with a focus on cash (eg renewed engine pricing models and increased price per hour) and killed failing projects.

A lot of the projects have been structurally embedded pre Tufan, that's all.
