Tacet, the answer depends whether you are a short or longer term holder. for a short term/swing trade type. divi is irrelevant. For a LTH is very relevant as is entry price. My view is when normality kicks in & over a few years the divi will go up. So if you got in @ the low prices (sub 200) if the divi just got restored to previous level, you have an income yield of 16%. Stuck in a tax free ISA that is an unbeatable investment. with longer term capital gains all tax free also!

JJ you only have to hold a share on the ex div date to get the dividend. Using BP as an example, you could have bought this share on 4th Nov & sold on 6th Nov to get the recent dividend!

people thinking they can buy tesco shares now & get a 50p dividend are living in cloud cuckoo!

after hours trade reports are fairly meaningless BB, usually just updated trades from earlier in the day. Nothing to get excited about!

Kince, can you explain how you work out 275 as the historical average? This share prior to C19 last traded below 275 way back in March 1996. It was originally floated @330 in 1987 on a part paid basis. Intra year from 1996 it has almost always been in the 400-700 range.

Not totally sure of the nub of that question JSB, but if you're referring to transportation costs for tankers etc, all that stuff is tax deductible anyway for businesses so no impact!

The 'hold' advice is very wise Hassa. Exactly what i'm doing too. Markets seem to be behaving very bizarrely at the moment. I have a few shares which i've got on my radar & the price moves are making little sense or logic. Some share are trading very high for no real reason while other shares which seem much more viable being held back. I believe the market will correct itself soon & for me @ least it's not a good time to be buying or selling! BP wise, this share can surely only be headed north @ some stage. Most stuff is in it's favour: Rising OP; vaccines etc. I'm just holding for longer term on this one anyway but i think same applies to most shares at the moment!

i think if it's no deal the whole market will drop a bit. BP will depend if OP hold above $50. Any fall here will be only short lived. Don't forget weak pound=bigger divi here!

yes culco, half of my investment here i pulled to get in on BP in the 190s which has proven to be a good move. BP has played catch up a bit with the other vaccine shares but i'm treating that one as very long term as got it in an ISA & is a big divi payer as well. The other half i should have left in here but i missed the boat & stuck a chunk in BP again & those are the ones i'm thinking of using to buy back in here. Never really know whats going to happen. Even NEX still going up & down like crazy albeit at much healthier levels than pre vaccine!

yep culco i agree on that. i don't mind paying that little bit more. i intend to cash out on some of my BP holding once they reach some sort of peak and would love to get back in here around 220 ish or anything less would be nice!

i don't doubt this stock at all Super. I only got out before BoJo announced lockdown to fully intend getting back in again. Pure greed really but got stung. Ne'er mind i been lucky on the BP ones. i always thought the US stuff been priced in for a while (pre vaccine), so thought today's dip based on Brexit. Been doing some digging as to how Brexit affects companies with strong EU presence. It surely can't be a good thing but can't find anything definitive yet!

That's sort of one of my concerns. Bit like IAG/BA situation. Will money generated by ALSA division be subjected to some sort of EU taxation as the company is listed in UK?? I believe the 250-70 range is the sort of price this would be trading in for a good while. At least until vaccines etc rolled out & divi reinstated. I'm looking to get in here again. Anything below 250 still looking cheap to me but obviously want lowest as possible. GLA

tell ya mate you should read some of the posts on the RR board. I never actually invested there but been very near to it on a few occasions so kept up with the board. Lots of wannabe tacets on there. Worst ones were when it tanked to £1 pre RIs & some on that board were goading people to sell at losses blah blah. I'm sure some people did & lost a lot of cash there!

Hope you all keepin well. I'm missing this board after i stupidly bailed pre vaccine & missed the party. However most of the funds from here i'd pumped into BP which has now gone on big bull run, so profit levels are close to what i would've got here anyway. I'm keeping an eye on here & seen it twonked today. I'm deffo back in if it goes a bit further south here & my BPs hold up well. What do you folks make of the Brexit impact here. I researched this share extensively before so i was think ing about the impact Brexit has on it's ALSA division. I'm not deramping don't worry, i know this is a £4/5 player mid-long term, just don't fancy paying over the odds in the short term?

next one is not till March!
