Anyone who is not a daytrader/short termer should ignore Brexit/OPEC speculation. If you're prepared to hold for the medium-long term, these issues aren't relevant. Today's prices are a bargain. Still only a small amount above March lows. Anyone who traded this stock back in May/June time would have a chuckle at some of the fretting going on here!

Neal, the logic you use is a sound logic. Pre Covid BP shares have consistently been £4+ since 1997 (bar a couple short lived dips (deepwater). They have always paid one of the best dividends in the FTSE. This share is purely a patience & waiting game. If you can afford to wait the best thing is to just forget about these shares & take a look every few months to see the growth. A lot of views on these BBs are short termist. People looking to gain a quick 10-20% & then go elsewhere. That is fine but not my cuppa tea! Do not worry about intra day dips. This share is now on a bullish trend & should continue now vaccines are on the horizon. Of course this is a gamble like any share is, & if you believe oil will be extinct in a few years this is probably not the right investment for you. The difference with this gamble is personally i believe it odds on to be £5+ within a couple of years. sit on your hands & wait. This share will bear fruit!

Neal, i'd be absolutely shocked if this share has not passed 315 by New Year. 315 is still cheap as chips now all the vaccine news is out there. Only takes a couple of good days here & we'll be away. Once this gets above a couple of resistance points (323 & 328 used to be stumbling blocks as i recall) this has a clear path all the way up to 380 level!

This looks to me like one of the few real discount bargains left now all the vaccine news is out. I'm going to try & free up some other investments to pump more in here sub 120. Sound fundamentals. Seems like a good, solid, well managed business, & in my experience those investments always turn out the best!

Crimson, i got a feeling that RNS probably relates to holdings from the placing. Nonetheless yes bit of s dip today. Buying opportunity as i saw it & bought some more @116. As i see it, results were a bit bad but nothing too catastrophic, & was pretty much expected. I think this company is really well placed now. All the covid nonsense will start to ebb away & things will get back to normality. The placing has put them in a good financial position & i can only see this heading one way. Buy the dips, buy the dips!

Just a pullback after big rally yesterday. Personally bit surprised it didn't edge a bit lower but this always happen after a big rise. Just bed wetters filling their piggy banks. They'll look back in anger in a few days time!

can't see how anyone would have made any significant money day trading this today. would have to be large volumes & timed to perfection. factoring in platform charges & stamp duty, couldn't make any great money. not worth the risk & i wouldn't believe someone saying they managed to sell dead on 278 & buy dead on 265!

well, Tacet yes, i agree that time is of the essence & if i saw a great investment opportunity i would happily pull funds from BP if i saw potential greater returns. However i see no reason for this to fundamentally decline in the future. Quite the opposite. History has shown it to be a reliable growth stock over the years & covid has put a spanner in those works. Also it is one of only a few stocks offering a good yield, which over a number of years will pay for the original cost of the stock, at least at the recent low levels!
