I agree Rom. that Xcite would not have been considered a serious partner, but being desperate to get a Major onboard provided Statoil with all the info they needed no doubt believing it would help their case. Probably the cheapest set of Data against Cost, for $15m Statoil ever spent, all of which is now in AB’s hands for nowt ! Would be fascinating to know some of the costings / plans that were placed before the BOD when discussing this Field.

Freddie. At the time Statoil/Equinor were exploring ways to best tackle Bressey and clearly thought collaboration with Xcite / Bentley may offer a solution. This extract from an RNS at the time
“ A joint XER, Statoil and Shell team will work together to analyse the current available information and develop a number of proposals for assessment, including the potential utilisation of common infrastructure, assets and operational solutions during the phased development of the Bentley Field and the future development of the Bressay Field” . Not surprisingly Statoil realised the issues involved and folded !

Yes frustrating but highlights that the vast majority of retail investors are short term traders for which longer term growth potential is of little interest when you can quickly close a position, having taken a modest gain, and repeat elsewhere. The only benefit LTH ‘s have is a deeper understanding of a Company’s prospects, for others into momentum trading that’s pretty irrelevant !

At least the Gov’t excels in “can kicking” given the no. of Inquiries each scandal generates to buy time until interest vanes to the point of being forgotten. Will it get better...No !

Just seems slightly ironic that the UK departed the EU partly to rid themselves of incompetent bureaucracy, cronyism and corruption only to now discover much of the same is now happening within, only the UK can’t now blame someone else ! That in itself may hasten much needed change.

Had absolutely no time to research this Company other than a quick over view which highlighted a sudden Market disconnect with reality, so have bought in the expectation it will soon be back closer to its Placing price. Hard for existing holders.

In times of Crisis you often have to work on Trust. Unfortunately the DHSC are rapidly losing all credibility in so many areas that future Trust will not be available to them and the resultant delays harm everyone. AS is turning into a shrewd businessman as well !

ES.....it may well be that AS remains happy with them / needs their support and has already agreed a Rider to the original contract. Just saying that the RNS language used would give AVCT scope to review that so presumably Medusa have already received that reassurance otherwise they may need to amend their website (again) !

Also interestingly that Distribution Agreement specially only mentioned that it was in respect of a saliva-based rapid test for the COVID-19 antigen test. We’ve since moved on so remains to be seen if AS still wishes to use them !

AB will have had his sights on this long ago but clearly has played the long game knowing via AK that he held the only real viable card and just waited for the financial / licence vice pressure over Whalsey , to yield to his demands. Another gift and welcome boost to the reserves tank. What’s not to like.

I agree Chilting, there is no appetite amongst II’s to add high risk ESG Companies to their portfolio’s without compelling reason ie. strong financial incentives, but currently renewable energy is far too limited especially in the developing world to really dent oil demand in the near future, so I do see those incentives coming back relatively soon. Not that it will remove our demonised status !
